So I just burned like 40k glory points on runes, to see what I got.
I got 3 4* runes so far- Delay, Warlust, Earth Totem. Bunch of the other runes.
Notable runes so far-
Bless (2*). Looks really solid, easy to find and level, and adds hero rage. Healer (2*). Another very solid rune, adding atk with every heal. Soul Swap (3*). Very useful for something like Eye of Jonara. Bloodlust (3*). Helps add to hero rage, very good on sweeping blow bloodlust creatures. Frost Armor (3*). Nice retaliate skill. Block (2*). Same as Frost Armor. Stabthrough (2*). With a stabthrough Graboid, this could be curtains for human heros very, very quickly. Fire (3*). Very nice increase to pyre damage, looks like it increases damage by 500 at the top end.
Sure there's more to be discovered, these are just the most useful ones I've seen so far without spending gems. Any good ones anyone finds, let's share them!

Someone confirm/deny that Gem Purchase has a higher chance of getting higher runes?
I used 1000 gems and got 5 tier 5 runes. I then used.... a shitload of glory, and did not get any tier 5 runes at all.

It appears, from all the sources I've spoken to, that Gems are the only way to get 5* Runes.
As for the OP, Block and Frost Armor aren't the same. Block reduces enemy ATK and Frost Armor deals direct damage.
Best combination I have so far is on my Lv. 15 Swordmaster (Recycle 1):
Frost Armor III (Lv.3): 60 direct damage when activated
Maji Shield III (Lv.3): 60 direct damage when activated
Violence IV (Lv.2): ATK +36
Now she kills creatures when taking physical/magic damage and she has a base ATK of 513.

about gems... Just imagine, how many runes u can have for 100 gems? And now -> 5 raid attempts for 100 gems == ~10k Glory Points... Yup, if you are fine with no chance of 5* Runes you can basically "exchange" Gems for Glory and turn them into Runes.

To be perfectly honest, this p2w feature is one of the least shameful. Most of the 5*s are just upgrades of 4*s or not a Skill Rune, so I can live with Runes.

I like em. Got a flaming leveled up to 4. Does 80 detonate to adjacent creatures when something dies while on fire! Has made a difference in a few matches already! Haven't found a fire rune yet. Put flame brave with fire rune III lvl 4 does additional 200 dmg with pyre, incinerate and meteor, it also has flaming rune II lvl 4 80 dmg to adjacent creatures. My flame brave became so awesome, just loving it.

Best thing about runes is that now can have unmelded but evolved cards, the random 4th skill can have some awesome rune to make up for melding, now we dont have to meld rarer 4* cards and can add runes to remaining rare cards after evolving .. I think runes changes the whole game, just loving it already.

But it was on my other account There's gonna be some nice combos going around when people start to really upgrade all the ruins on a stacked critter, especially with a ruin stacked hero to boot:)

Spent more than 6k gems on Runes, got 2 5* Immunity and Rage Boost, 8 4* and some useful 3* 2 Voodoo 2 Fire, but I have some questions need be clarified. First about any kind of Attack boost like Rage Boost, Protean, Humanity, do they really make a big difference cuz it only increase 1 point seems too low to make game change. Second, there are some runes make me confusing like Godwill, Reflect, Heal Amplifier, Healer Rune. DOes Reflect apply for all other opponent creatures ? Heal Amplifier work out for all healing creatures ? Godwill and Rage boost worth for lev up ? And could anybody translate for me in simplier version for what describe on Healer rune ? Thanks.

Anger rune is only 1 star, but at level 10 it has 30% chance to double it's current ATK. That is huge! I run ursa major for guild maps with zora marauder and it's ATK keep increasing, my Ursa reaches up 5000 ATK sometimes even more. Now imagine added 30% chance to double it's ATK that is insanely high 10000 ATK, it is similar to battleblow with 30% chance instead of 50% and i am not going to waste melding BB8 eating up other rare Ursa majors, they are too valuable for guild maps to me. Imagine 10000 ATK procing at later stages and runes only eat up glory, no gems not much coins, so yeah it's superb, Anger rune along with zora Hero is insane combo in my opinion. Another example my FA Oracle now has heal and bless runes, the heal rune alone at lvl 1 increases all healed creatures attack by 2% current ATK, 10% at lvl 5 and 20% at lvl 10, so imagine just lvl 5 heal rune at around 50 turns in guild map when Ursa is doing 3000 ATK and anger rune proc up and ATK increases to 6000 ATK now it's healed by heal rune lvl 5 another 10% increase so now ATK is 6600 ATK. So yeah, runes rock! at 5000 ATK and all runes at lvl 10 :- Anger rune lvl 10 - now ATK is 10000 (30% proc rate) Heal rune lvl 10 - guaranteed ATK 12000 ATK if anger procs and guaranteed ATK of 6000 ATK if anger doesn't proc. AND! that is just one rune on Oracle and one on Ursa, you can have 3 on each, so yeah! I am loving runes, no need to waste gems. Anger rune is just lvl 1* i can easily upgrade it to lvl 10 and healing is 2* so you won't have much trouble upgrading that to lvl 10 as well. There are two kinds of runes, ones that are meant for Heros and others are meant for creatures. Healer rune will work on all mass healers, and creatures with holy light and similar healing powers. So whenever a creature is healed by a healer equipped with healer rune, the creature's ATK will increases, so whenever a creature is healing it's ATK is also increasing. Godswill ang rage are definitely worth upgrading, I have put Voodoo rune on my spirit siren, will level the rune up later. You have another doubt about healing amplifier right? Well that is a Hero rune and when installed on to a Hero all the healers of the particular deck with have increased healing power, just like it says "healing amplifier" like your Oracle will be able to heal 150 + 60 = 210 health every round with a lvl 10 healing amplifier 2* and 150 + 6 = 156 health at lvl 1. So choose your hero runes wisely, choose so that it serves the purpose you have arranged your deck for. I am sorry i won't be able to answer all of your questions because i haven't come accross all of the runes but yes the basic funda is that Hero runes work on all applicable creatures with in that deck and the creature runes work through the creature alone. EDIT: There is one small problem though i don't know which executes first the anger rune or healer rune, lol makes difference too if the healer is on the left of Ursa, little confused but yeah anger rune increases ATK to double the original that is the big thing.

I have a huge clarification to be made here. I am sorry my previous information has been rendered useless, i used this set up yesterday for guild maps and it didn't work as i described it would. I wish IGG was a bit clear with their descriptions. I though anger rune gave a chance to increase the ATK by double the amount as mentioned on the rune description but actually what it does is that it increases the anger amount by double not the whole ATK of the creature. Come on IGG be specific about it. For example my Ursa has an anger increase of 60 anger lvl6 i guess, then anger rune at lvl 10 gives it 30% chance to increase it's ATK by 120, double the anger ATK not the overall ATK. I guess that is why it's just a 1* rune, same goes with restoration rune, it gives the creature a chance to restore it's HP by double the amount of the restoration HP, like venom tyrant has restoration power of 270, so now restoration rune gives it ability to restore it's HP by 270x2, double the HP from restoration. These runes are not too bad, but certainly misleading with their description. From all the runes i have installed my favourite ones are: 1 . Healer rune II - love this one on the oracles and other healers, it activated upon healing and of course creatures take damage every round so this is going to proc every round. It has bad synergy with dodge but really nice with frost armour. 2. Bless rune II - this is going to help your Hero very much. 3. VooDoo rune III - this one is a three star so it will take lil more time to lvl up but it is great against summoning Heroes and would also save you a round or two of death curse from wight, but this is only going to work well if you have high lvl runes and if there are two or more curse creatures in the deck. 4. Flame rune II and Flaming rune II - i love these ones on flame brave, wow. Also used Queen temptress yesterday for guild maps, wow she is the best daily login creature till now, i love her, she reduces the enemy Hero rage and increases our Hero rage by 30 that is a huge amount, very nice for guild maps! She also happens to have nice defensive skills.

Runes will help strong strategy players and will help to balance the game (in the long run) between heavy spenders with OP cards and those without the OP cards.
