Tournament is my favorite mode in this game, because it lets us pit against all active DH players. And with some wits, you can easily beat paying players with your free deck. In this game, not much provides a better feeling than that . As a f2p player, it is definitely impossible to ace the tournament, but getting a decent tournament income (im saying about 100 - 120 / hour) is very feasible and rewarding (free gems, free energy, and 5* shards). I am an f2p player myself and i hover between 500 - 600 in arena, despite the fact that my cards are a complete disaster, luck wise. So, let's get started. Here are some of the nifty stuff I learned that might be useful for you in tournament: 1. In tournament we have to build 3 decks to battle other people. Offensively though, you theoretically only need TWO decks. For starter, two decks consisting of your main explorer deck and a curse deck (which can be gotten as early as possible) would be able to take you from unranked to rank 3000ish - the income should be around 70-80. 2. Defensively, you need to make THREE good decks to be able to defend well. It does take time to build all three to be decent, and in my experience the most consistent deck combo would be: your main deck - spiky bits deck (berserker is good) - second best deck (preferably summoner hero). You can, at some degree, have some control over which deck the enemy will attack. This is because when attacking, people will also seek two of your weakest deck. At worst, they will have to face your second best deck and spiky bits deck with their two best decks. And as far as i see, most people do have magic card in one of their decks. Instictively, they will match their magic deck with your second best deck. Hence, you need to make your second deck at least as strong as your main deck. For example, in my case, I migrate one recycle and three disposals from my main deck to second best deck so my main (wight deck) works only with one recycle as well as a few 4*. You will get much better chance in defending this way. having your two weaker decks as summoner hero also helps defending against curse decks (which is popular as of late) 3. Memorize names that you can consistently beat. When you reach rank 1000 and above, the population shrinks and you will start seeing the same people over time. Memorize which one you can beat consistently to help you climb. 4. Every tournament ticket has 5 minutes cooldown. Whenever you play, try to at least use two tries. This is done in order to prevent the people you hit to hit you back (which, in most cases, will succeed) 5. Play when they sleep. I think most players are playing near DH time, whereas my time zone is like 12 hours late. So, play at around 00.00 AM DH time so that there is less chance for you to be hit when you play (which is a waste of tournament pass) 6. There is also one trick i usually use to climb fast. Dont use your tournament pass until one hour before server reset, so that you use all five at once and will get another five by the time the server resets, effectively giving you ten tries at the tournament. on 5000ish rank you can go up to 1000, and from rank 1000 upwards you can get as much as 300 rank up, assuming you win. 7. Not all enemy's main decks are strong. Most people use wight as their main, and most people i see tone it down a bit to improve their second deck (example would be a 10 5* strong wight deck, but only one recycle). Dont be afraid to take them on, you may win if u get lucky in taking down their recycle. 8. Dont be fooled by enemy level, always check their decks. Not all people at level 80+ are unbeatable, and not all people at low level are weak (I have met someone level 60 in around rank 500, for example). 9. In tournament, you will be presented with three possible enemies each time, with the leftmost choice giving the highest climb. However, it might be wise to not always hit the leftmost. Sometimes, the rank difference between the leftmost enemy and the middle enemy is not noticeable, and oftentimes the middle enemy is easier to beat. I think that's all I know about the tournament, let me know if you know something interesting!

The best advice I can give, by far, is simply don't give up. It can be demoralising when you drop 1000 places overnight, but you have to keep plugging away at it gradually, and work on those 5* heros slowly.
I remember hitting a sticking point at 1000 which I couldn't get through, so I barely played the tournament and would drop to sub 2000, before halfheartedly climbing. Then I suddenly got past there, my interest sparked and I got fairly quickly to 500. Got stuck again for a while, but then got a few good melds and 5* which helped push me through the barriers- 400, 300, 200, and now I'm around 100. Fairly comfortable, but not moving up easily either.
I'm a STAR only player, and although I got a little luck (2 mystics) I did save gems to buy around 50 human booster packs so far, so I don't think it's that unreasonable. Until you have enough recycle/revive to put a minimum of 1 per defensive deck, and ideally 2 per attacking deck, you will struggle to break top 500, so keep realistic in expectations. Just keep building your deck as normal, and keep replacing your weak links. Watch your replays and see which deck is regularly used as fodder for your opponent, and adjust it accordingly.

All you need is a stabthrough deck now. I don't even buy STAR and just cracked the top 10 with it.

Hi, i am a new player and play around 2 weeks. now i am at level 43 with star player. still struggling to build my main deck. so when i at level 40 and tournament is unlocked for me, i set up my 3 decks with my best cards. but what i wonder is i am UNRANKED and i do not have a points income at all. i thought i have to fight lover ranked players first and then gradually climb high. but it is not happening to me, i always have to fight the players who are around 30-40 levels higher than me and they have insanely powerful cards with high power(more than 3000 power over me). SO i always bound to fail. is it happening to all the players who stepped to tournament first or it is only for me? but occasionally when i fight 3 battles in a raw, some times i win one battle. then a message pops up and say that " your point income is not changed and it is still at 300/hour. but i do not getting a value rank. still it say unranked and i do not getting a points income. Should i win all three battle rounds to earn a rank. i do not mind if my rank is i million first. but i want to see a digital numbered rank rather than saying UNRANKED. so please tell me how can i get a real rank please?

Don't get too discouraged. Tournaments are very competitive and a great test of skill/deck-building for high end players but the rewards are quite lackluster compared to the time and effort required to maintain a rank. Basically, what I'm saying is that while it's really not balanced and fair, you're not missing out on much anyways. Just keep focusing on what you're doing and try the Tournaments again in a few weeks after you've got some more cards going. I don't think they should have even opened up Tournaments at Level 40 - should have been way higher because there's no way in hell a level 40 can compete.

Just to add to what Soap said, the rankings only go to 10,000, anyone below that is unranked. You need to win 2 out of 3 fights in an overall battle in order to progress, winning just one is an overall loss. Just keep working on your decks and progressing in other areas, look at Tournament as a way to get 2 free Coupon Shards per day for now. In another 10-15 levels you should be able to start making some progress & hold a place in Tournament but you will definitely struggle for now without either dumping a fair bit cash into gems or some absurd luck.

Thanks for giving me this info. I thought this was due to a game bug and need a way to fix it. I will do what as you said. I slowly build up my deck.

Tournament mode still makes me want to jump out a moving car window. It's a complete nightmare for anyone just starting out, and f'ing horrible for anyone with bad rng. 3 months in, while i've finally gotten a wight, my only other heroes of note are a lvl 1 patriarch and a lvl 1 balrog - neither of whom have any reasonable skills.
I get owned less than 10 seconds after my first match, regardless of when I play. so during that 5 minute cooldown, whatever gain i've made is gone by the time the refresh starts. Rinse and repeat.
so frustrating.

Having guild tokens makes it much quicker to get your 4* heros.

The order I put my decks is: Weakest, strongest, second strongest. Most people put their strongest first, so I will likely lose that fight, but then my stronger decks go vs their Weakest.

I'm pretty sure most high ranked players switch up their decks a lot. Defenses decks are constantly swapped around and offense decks are swapped around every battle to find the 2 best match-ups to get wins. At the highest ranks of the tournaments it's highly unlikely to find players that can go 3W-0L vs another player (assuming all 3 matches play out)... it's usually a matter of going 2W-1L or 1W-2L.
