I'm in 2 minds over what I actually want.
On the one hand, I'd love all the most powerful cards in the game to become available in heist - heck they're free cards if you have the time available that day. If you save up gems it's perfectly reasonable to expect 2 whole cards.
On the other hand, what is it going to do for balance in the long run? If I get all the cards I'm working towards I may even get bored with the game too.
So I have no idea, I think Heist may need toning down a fair bit or have less game-changing cards as rewards.

Well, somehow you're short seeing. best cards we have today (and most of them I don't even dream to get, being purely FTP) will be easily available through Heist, but IGG will only have to design a few new supercards to keep your interest up ... They need us to be entertained and I think they're better there than in coding. No doubt they have some serious 'meta brainers' who already have thought of THAT card you will dream of them you get all those you dream of now.

If I get all the cards I'm working towards I may even get bored with the game too. So I have no idea, I think Heist may need toning down a fair bit or have less game-changing cards as rewards. You're right, if it occurs too often it will unbalance the game. The players who save for it, or buy for it, and have decks that get them shards easily will get a couple awesome cards each time. While the players who don't play enough or spend enough to have enough gems, or have decks that do not allow them to get shards easily will continue to fall hard behind those other players. From what I could tell there was a "shard creep" that happened throughout the event. That is, shards move most often when higher power decks beat lower power ones, and since higher power decks are owned by players who are more likely to spend gems for extra attempts, you have a situation where there are less and less shards available in the lesser decks and they are then mostly owned by the players with the active top decks. So when I got on last night to spend my last tickets I was shooting for Paragon shards, and with a 9000 power deck could not find a "Very High" below 11000 power. It appeared that most of the shards that were available at that point were all in the hands of high level players. Having better cards makes it easier for those top tier players to progress, which leaves the mid tier players further behind, widening the gap between the two until the only challenge left for the top tier is when they play each other, or to get the next uber card. So, yup, boredom will arrive faster.

So, yup, boredom will arrive faster. That's not quite true about the shards creeping to higher power decks. I missed over half the day before I even logged in yesterday but when I did I found the most success with a deck at just over 3000 power. It took me a few runs and some tips from guildmates before I found the right deck but when I did there was a constant source of shards fight opponents between 4k and 9.5k. Enough so that I got a full Paragon in less than half a day, I even logged out well before the end of the day but did spend what gems I had to buy 4 refreshes. But yeah, I agree with you about the rest, just wanted to clear that point up!

So, yup, boredom will arrive faster. Not true....I got a paragon on my lvl 24 alt. Only used a 1*hero and a disposal card and was aiming for people using a 1 card deck as well. It was almost as easy to get shard on my alt as it was on my main lvl 90 account, only took more refresh to find the right opponent.

Some people were getting 2 full cards without even spending gems. If they make it longer without making it more difficult to acquire shards then it will just get silly.

Fair enough, I may have misread about that.
From my experiences I think it's do-able though, you'd just need some luck with the shard amounts that you win. One set of runs I beat 5x Very High 1-2 opponents and only got 1 shard, the next set I did the same and got 9 shards.

Disposals will only get you so far, expecially High level. Stoneskin and immunity to prolific at high levels and dungeons maps past 12 disposal is next to useless. It has its uses in gauntlet and GB but that's about it. I have 5 disposal use 2 for most things.

But yeah, I agree with you about the rest, just wanted to clear that point up! Thanks for your post. Yes, I may have jumped the gun with "shard creep"; I only had one day of data. Here's what I noticed this time: that the bulk of decks marked "Very High" were decks significantly above the power of your current deck. So whatever deck you went in with, most decks marked "Very High" were at least 2k more power than your current deck- which makes perfect sense. So, it's not so much shard creep, but the matching system is challenging. Also, the lower your deck power the more you had to refresh to find a "Very High" opponent you could beat. I actually took your advice and went with a lower power, more efficient, deck, and had a good deal of success. That said, it still wasn't easy and I've yet to put together a 5*, but it was a much better experience than the last time.
