Hi there,
im quite new in the game and obviously I was very lucky, because beneath some "normal" five star Creatures that everone can get (Thalassa etc.), my best Creature is the Granite Dragon (cost 24), which sometimes wins nearly the whole battle standalone at the level that i am currently (55).
So the most common recommendments I read are: Vile Songstress, Spirit Arbiter, Alchemist and Armageddon.
It would be very nice if some experienced players can give me some tipps which of the above heroes I should buy regarding to: 1) Which is the most "solid" choice? (e.g. I read that VS (or SA?) is easily countered by druidess? So it would be a bit disappointing to spend 75.000 ore for a hero which is nearly useless against some other heroes) 2) Which fits best to my Granite Dragon?
Personally I like the Reanimate Skill of Armageddon and the Melt Armor Skill of Alchemist most, but I am quite unexperienced. And in a hero tier list that I saw, these two heroes were rated "only" with 7.5, while Vile Songstress and Spirit Arbiter got a rating of 8.5.
One additional Information: For Spirit Arbiter I already have 10 shards, so she would be 10% cheaper to get for me.
Thank you very much in advance for some hints.

Vs is still a good first 5* hero. Don't worry about druidess that giraffe can counter everything. I'd say get vile lvl it to 4 then save gems and get wraith thats what most everyone does. If you just wanna have fun Arma and alchemist are good too

Thank you very much for your opinion. I think I will go for Vile Songstress then, it seems that she is currently the first choice of the ore-heroes.

I would pick Arma over VS, even on low level where you are now you will meet Lucidity so your VS will just stand there and cry. Also you dont pick hero based on your 1 card, you compose your deck based on what you have and what you planing to do in future. Spirit Arbiter is by far best hero from ore mall, it does need lvl 7 to be werry good but still i would prefer to grind and to slowly build her rather than pick garbage as is VS and later regret. Its up to you but i would recomend SA grind, Arma and WH or Warlock as your hero squad to work with.

Thanks a lot :-) So you would go for Spirit Arbiter. I hope the following two questions are not too stupid: 1) Why VS is countered by Lucidity and SA isnt? 2) Why does SA need Level 7 to be really good? I read at level 5 two creatures are affected from Scourge and at level 10 three. So I would expect that she gets real good at level 5 und even better at level 10?

And what do you thinkk about Alchemist? I read she can learn Lucidiy too and her ability to counter Frost armor, Immunity, Block, Stoneskill etc., which is very popular by most better players, sounds very useful for me.

Ahh so much things you got wrong 1. Requiem (skill from VS) is negated by Lucidity which means when she get her rage maxed she will do nothing to enemy cards who are under protection of Lucidity. SA Scourge can only be negated by Ward doesnt have to do anything with Lucidity. 2. At lvl 5 SA Scourge will cast on 2 cards but with very low damage and chance of removal, thats why lvl 7 is minimum to call it good and effective. Also lvl 10 is not her best its lvl 9. lvl 10 goes on 3 cards but with less damage and less chance of removal from play than lvl 9. As for Alchemist she is fun hero, but not that competitive. You need very powerful cards in deck because if you rely on killing opponents cards with Melt Armor then you would wait very long time and for sure lose battle. In old times Alchemist was one of top heroes, but now in this meta today its not much useful.

Since you are still fresh player it will for sure pay off if you start building SA now.By the time you reach higher level you will have full ready SA to work with Armageddon doesnt need level to be good hes doing OK on lvl 1 so he can be your 2nd in line, Warlock is also one of counters to VS, Alchemist, Captivator so he also can be considered for you to work on. So there you go 3 heroes to have fun with just have to roll talents on them and get your cards ready, but in time you will get all done.Keep saving gems for Alice Bonds and dont spend them much if you dont need, as long as you have big gem stack you are good. Also dont forget on Wraith Hunter hes also one of good heroes, need lvl 5 to be good, but hes only available in LP mall which means you have to commit quite big amount of gems to get him and upgrade to lvl 5,so for now stick to SA and stack gems then later you decide what would be better for you

Will you answer me a few more questions please: Which runes would you recommend for Spirit Arbiter? I got the following 5 star runes: Hero Vigor, Faen Vigor and Sorcery. I think Faen Vigor and Sorcery only makes sense if I got some faen creatures and creatures that do magic damage in the deck?
But im afraid of spiky bits, currently I dont use any creatures that do magic damage, because even against Berseker at level 50 I have no chance against his spiky bits skill :-( Is there any counter against spiky bits? If there is none, then the use of creatures that do magic damage is always very risky, isnt it?
I think inital rage would be great for SA, isnt it? But I only got a 3 star inital rage rune yet.

Hero Vigor, Initial Rage, Haste Rune, Neander Vigor Mortii Vigor or Human Vigor. Thats the list you should put on. Depending on your cards in deck you put one of those Neander/Mortii Vigor (or both if get). Most important to make high level of those runes is Initial Rage, get it to lvl 8 or more.
Forget about Sorcery and Faen runes those are useless since no one using magic type cards or Faen faction, only maybe just few Faens are good to have but surly not that good to deserve a hero rune.Your future deck will probably have mostly Neanders and Mortii (plus some Aquarius) so hope to get those to fit in. The reason magic cards are obsolete is because of presence of Mythril Drone in decks and because magic cards boost enemy hero rage like crazy and thats not what you want.So stick to direct damage type of cards and get some Aquas in future.

Thank you for that hint, all opinions are welcome. At the moment i stuck at map 10-11 (but im only level 56), so it seems there is a long way to go for me to reach map 16. At the moment my brain says Spirit Arbiter and my heart says Alchemist (have seen videos of her and i think she is cool) But I still will have a few weeks left to decide :-)
But as Grandfather told me, i will give up my faen deck and im working on a mixed Mortii/Neander-Deck. I have about 152 costs available, so my plan for the next weeks is the following deck: 4 Neanders: 1) Granite Dragon (by far my best creature) 2) Tauros Elder 3) Ursa Major 4) Blood Warlock (i read its one of the best 3 star creatures, i have to put some 3 star creatures in, because of the costs)
4 Mortiis: 5) Phantom Liege (my best 5 star Mortii Creature) 6) Cave Dragon 7) Dullahan 8) Manticore (also one of the best 3 stars i read)
And number 9 and 10 should be Mythril Drone and Horned Beast melded with Recycle from Thalassa
And concerning Hero (until I got my first 5 Star hero SA or Alchemist or VS) I try to get rid of Predator and use Berserker or Wight instead.
Other 5 Star Creatures from Neander and Mortii that I have are: Spiderqueen, Tidal Siren, Undying Will, Terror Dragon, Death Knight. But as far as I know Phantom Liege is my best 5 Star Mortii and Granite Dragon of course my best 5 star Neander, thats why i put those two into the deck.
If i am wrong, please tell me :-)

For now I'd recommend this:
1. Slowly get Spirit Arbiter to level 9. 2. Save gems for Alice Bonds. 3. Join a guild with shard systems. This will allow you to farm so many cards and shards that are useful at your level. >> Farm Paragon. >> Farm Abaddon (to strip his Immunity 9) >> And many others which you can meld. Check out the Guild section in this forum. Don't be shy asking them about the shard systems, and their requirement. Choose a guild you're comfortable with.
4. With the cards you have now, >> Meld Immunity 9 to Phantom Liege (fyi PL can be obtained from Guild Map as well) >> Meld Frost Armor to Terror Dragon (take the Frost Armor from Frost Rager or Sentry Angel. Don't take the Frost Armor from Ursa Major. Ursa Major is for stripping his Stabthrough)
5. I'd use Death Knight and take out Cave Dragon.

Wow .. thanks :-) I didnt heared about a "shard system" in guilds yet, but I will take a look.
Concerning death knight, i knew that he was rated as top tier, but i coulndt see why, thats why I took him out. Ok he boosts his Attack by 400, but only in the first round. I think its because of his rebirth? Skills like Rebirth, Recycle, Disposal seem to be the most powerful skills.
But i cant take in both, Death Knight and Terror Dragon yet, that will exceed my costs. But as you wrote, terror should be melded and i am far away from melding him, i neither have enough materials for evolving him nor enough copies for melding after evolving. So i will only take in Death Knight yet. But I will keep your suggestions about melding in mind, thanks!
But is cave dragon really not that good? Inflicting burn on all enemies and reducing attack on all enemies sounds quite good for me. And i got 4 copies of him, so i could evolve him and meld frost armor on him. But maybe the copies of cave dragon are more useful as master to meld fatigue 8 on other creatures?

I have no experience playing Cave Dragon. I have never level up a Cave Dragon because there are other better cards to use. I'd choose Death Knight because of his two-timer wait time, Assassinate and Rebirth. Maybe your experience is different. Choose what works for you and when the creature starts to become weak, then swap in other creatures to see if it will improve your deck.
I'd prefer Picking Off over Assassinate, but you don't have any creatures with Picking Off. You can Explore Eye of Jonara and meld with Frost Armor, or maybe Unbound if you're playing Wraith Hunter.
I just realise you have only 1 Recycle. Your priority is to Unseal another Thalassa. Then meld it. Having two Recycle creatures in your deck will help you clear maps. And then you can Explore Queen Temptress.
By the way, do you play Grimoire? The Grimoire for Vitality rune and Violence rune are easy to clear.

Very interesting, thank you. Currently i dont play Grimoire, i played it a few times but i won only at level 1 or sometimes level 2. And there i only get shards for 1 or 2 star runes i think. So i preferred using my energy for mines (that takes 30% or 40% of the whole energy each day, at least it feels so :-)), maze, chambers and getting shards for Thalassa, Horned Beast etc.
Im currently working on my second Thalassa, but that will take another two or three weeks. Would you meld her Recycle on another Horned Beast? I read that Harbringer or Light Brave can be good alternatives for recycle (i dont have any of them yet, but i think Harbringer can be farmed)?
But today i draw my first 5 star vitality rune from the altar :-) Im not sure if i should give it to Horned Beast or to Granite Dragon. But Horned Beast has the recycle-Skill, so i think it should get the vitality rune.

Give the 5-star Vitality rune to Horned Beast. Level up the rune to at least level 6. This will give your HB an additional 600 HP.
I melded my first two Recycle onto Horned Beasts. Later on when I got my third Thalassa, I melded to Harbinger. It's a good meld. Later in the game when you can farm Queen Temptress, you can meld off one of the Recycle from Horned Beast onto Queen Temptress.
There's a thread here about how to win the Grimoire. The Vitality and Violence are the easiest to win.... at 5-star level. For the Grand Cleric (Violence rune), you need the 2-star Neander hero Zora. Level it up abit. Then fill your deck with Stabthrough and healing creatures. For the Swindler (Vitality rune), you need the 2-star Mortii hero Defiler. Level it up a bit. Then fill your deck with Reflect, healing creatures. Not sure if a bunch of Blood Warlock will work or not. I use 9 Treant Guide melded with Reflect.

Ok .. so still a lot to do for me :-) One more question please: Except the above mentioned neander and mortii 5 star creatures, i have two disposal creatures: Balthazar and Hanuman. Should i keep them and maybe evolve them, or should i use them for melding their disposal skill to another creature? But it should be a farmable creature to have a chance to get some copies.
And one question concerning Alchemist: Wouldnt it make sense to build a deck with Alchemist as Hero and many many disposal-creatures? So either the opponent creatures all have immunity, then they will not be affected by disposal but Alchemist will wipe them out with her melt armor skill .. or they dont have immunity, then the disposal creatures will wipe them out. In both cases you should have a huge advantage. Im quite sure that its not that easy, but i would like to understand why and im searching for reasons to buy Alchemist :-)

Question 1) You should keep them to meld away their disposals to other creatures. Royal Dragon, Dullahan and Hellwolf are the most common targets. Some people like to meld Disposal onto Queen temptress but i am not a fan.
Question 2) The reason why Alchemist is not so good as it sounds is because his hero skill needs stoneskin or immunity to activate to actually do any damage. The quicker the match, less opportunities you have to make use of Melt Armor, so to really take advantage of his hero skill, you need a very solid deck to be able to survive many rounds. We have, nowadays, a very fast paced meta with lots of heavy direct damage, rage locking, lockdown. I think, at your stage, you don't have the right cards to make your alchemist remotely competitive(besides Granite Dragon, but that is not enough)
Trust me. Spirit Arbiter is miles away ahead of Alchemist at this point. I would choose SA over Alchemist any day.

I have another question concerning the sacrifice skill/rune, isnt this skill overrated? Today i got a fight against someone who uses Venom Tyrant and he destroyed the best of his own creatures (in my opinion at least) and then lost the battle. Ok, gaining 120% Attack and HP is a lot, but randomly destroying an own creature can be very bad on the other hand. Im asking because im wondering if I should go for Venom Tyrant and collect the shard/creatures for him.

Sacrifice is one of the best skills of the game. Some of the top ending game melds involves sacrifice(SAC Taurus, SAC Capricorn, SAC Divine Terra). There are the affordable/farmable top melds either. SAC The twins, SAC Anathema, SAC Graboid and SAC Pit Dragon. If you meld one of these you will feel the power of this skill. Sure, there will be times when sacrifice will lose you a game but 90% of time it will do more good than harm. I am lvl 99 top 10 arena and still use a SAC The Twins.

Concerning heroes: The advise given is pretty good, you will see posts from these guys in many threads and they know waht they are talking about. Here is my take. Arma is very useful, especially early on. He pairs very well with disposal decks - which are easy to make at your level. He also only needs L1 to be good (75K ore), the creatures he steals get more powerful with levels - but its the act of taking the creature away from the opponent that is so powerful. Removing 1 recycler can make a major difference to a long fight. VS is a good option. She only needs levelling to 4 (160 sahrds or 120k ore). The lucidity VS nerf hurts her PvP - but again at your level that will not be an issue - indeed I have put millions of GP into getting lucidity on VS and I never got it (mass charm and group tactics on mine). She is also very good for completing maps, with a few good crits you can use her to get through most to map 16. She gave me massive acceleration when I got her, probably the biggest power skike I've had in the game (even vs revive and Octavius) SA is a very strong option. She doesn't require you to be on top with pargon active (like Arma does in general) to remove creatures from play. I have her at L5 and have been suing her recently, but as has been mentioned previously, more often than not the creatures she hits have some HP left. It helps you cleairng the deck (I also have cull which triggers after scourge) - but the real benefit is getting rid of creatures (HB and QT are particularly good targets). I see the strength at L7, an L7 SA would beat my L4 VS more often than not with the same cards - but she costs 310 shards or 323k ore to get there. With ore in mind, also consider you will need a mythril drone at some point - stopping magic skills is almost essential for some of the content. I invested a fair bit of ore into getting reviveMD, its a really good option. Alchamist is a really fun idea, but seems very hard to actually make it work. If you had a bunch of spare ore and no use for it (i.e. you had everything above!) then it would be worth the adventure. You will need to use totally different cards (and melds) to get any traction with it, but you will be different - which would be a nice change in this game Outside the ore mall, if you start working on maintaining tourney placement (with 3 decks! ouch) you can gather shards slowly for a few useful heroes. Putting 3 decks together to get a foothold is not as bad as it seems - predator, wright, beserker and make a start using faction bonuses. Your wright undying disposal deck will evolve into your Arma deck, you beserker deck could be a frost armour neander deck mostly used for GM with predator taking the best of the rest. Getting a recycler for each will be a big boost too, or at least for 2 decks - focus on rebirth/undying for the mortii deck. Forget overlord (Arma is better), but Judgement and worlock are very good heroes. Both improve with levels, but worlock is useful at low levels as he will clear ailments (lockdown, freeze, rip, requiem etc) from L1. The massive heals available from Judgement mean you want high HP cards in the deck. The heal ncrease is slow, but remember all cards heal whenever 1 card takes damage - so those small changes stack up. Captivator is alright, but she is available so infrequently that you don't really have to worry about it. As for the P2W options, Wraith Hunter is basically a much better SA. If you are ahead in alice bonds but behind in ore farming then Lucky spin points are a good option (I guess you don't have full bonds yet though). Best spend is 3rd mine first chest daily. I would be tempted to do it on double ore days anyway. This will slo speed up ore mall hero farming considerably - your first chest quest produces as much ore as the whole energy mine does. Druidess is basically the ultimate P2W hero, wards are overwhelmihng to just about anything else - but at least you don't need to worry about it for a while (unless you play deck duals - gotta love that matchmaking mechanic!) And I wouldn't worry too much about those 'ratings' a few patches have changed things up a bit and - like these opinions given here - are subjective. All heroes require some deck building, but in general you will end up using similar cards in whatever hero you have later. A last note on heroes, concentrate your GP drawing and levelling good runes (eg. hero vigor V, sac, vit/viol/prot V) over upgrading every hero you have. You will need a lot later to level you better heroes, and rolling the top tier talents costs a fortune. That said remember not to keep much hanging around, lest it be poached by a high level play using a low cost raiding deck!Buy up and hang onto those hero gp cards from the mall - they are really good to trade in for 20k+ costing level ups.

Sooo... just curious, what did you go for in the end? Thor

fastest way to improve is to get vs then arma. meanwhile you can get a tournament hero, probably lock. but ore heroes are better than tournament heroes. sa is a long term hero. level 7 takes forever.

sa is a long term hero. level 7 takes forever. No it's not if you convert everything into ore (meaning you give up on artifact shards). If my calculations are right, you can have it at lv 7 in about 3 months or even less if you also hit for gems mine (especially during double ore event), and totally worth it.
On the other hand, SA does not have any synergy with Granite Dragon, probably best for this would be Wraith Hunter. My personal preference goes to Warlock though, since Granite Dragon is hard to kill and with Warlock's skills he can become nearly immortal.

3 months is a long time. But I guess it isn't that long in DH terms. One of the reason why I no longer login to DH like I used to. It's repetition ad nauseum.
