Newbie player here (7 days), needing some help.
During my first few days playing when everything was a blur, I somehow managed to acquire 20 of 30 Ursa Major shards and 2 of 5 Carnation shards. I don't have any idea where they came from, but both of their sources say "Maze" and Carnation also says "Dungeon Map. Well the only Maze and Dungeon Map I was doing during that time was Map 2. I've done the Map 2 Maze several times since then, and been over all the Map 2 levels, but haven't seen any sign of shards for either of these cards.
Can anyone tell me where I can get the rest of them? I'm totally at a loss.

Ursa Major shards are tricky:
You get 30 of them when you clear the 3 first maps (10 per map). Then, Ursa Major will only drop in mazes. The 30 shards you get are the only Ursa Major shards you'll get in DH (Never got any after the 30)
For Carnation, it's an event drop, you won't be able to finish it, except if the event comes back, and that's not gonna happen any time soon

So what you're saying is they're basically useless right, and I'll never get any more of them?
Also, I still don't understand how I got them in the first place. I'm pretty sure when I got them I had only finished Map 2 on Easy and done the Maze for it, and has not started on Map 3. As far as an event, would that be in the Sky Arena? I know I didn't do anything in there, except look to see what it was all about. Very puzzling.

Hi, Game girl
Those Ursa major shards are only complimentary shards for relatively newer players. You will eventually find all 30 shards of Ursa major as you progress in the game don't worry, but you will not find carnation shards as that was based on a particular timely event.

Every 5 you collect, you traded for a Carnation card, which is just an Essence. You got them by exploring for shards or randomly in the Mazes. Don't feel confused with why you have them. IGG says the leftovers will get removed but I still have Easter Egg shards and V-Day Choco shards from those events.

It's a free Ursa.

Thanks to all who replied, and for your patience with this confused noob.
I think I finally get it. I got 20 Ursa shards for finishing Maps 1 & 2, and I'll get the other 10 when I complete Map 3. Then I can get Ursa.
I was playing on Mother's Day, so that's how I got the Carnation shards, somewhere in the game. I didn't know they were a limited offering. Would that have been posted somewhere? It would be nice to know when something like that comes up again (on other holidays, I guess)?
There are just so many parts to this game that in the beginning, they all seem to blur together. Especially when you're doing the tutorial (not just in DH, but other games too), since you're reading the narrative and trying to follow the instructions so it's harder to see the big picture. It's clearer now, but I know it'll take awhile to really make sense of it all.
I've used the wikia a lot to learn about the different parts of the game as I come to them, or if I can't remember where or what something is that I've already been to.

BK✦GamerGurl33That's why we created this Forum, so players can come here and ask questions. Never be afraid to ask anything, no matter what it is. We don't tolerate flaming or picking on people. Far as events when you log in, you normally get a notice of events. When you close that, if you click the little arrow on the top right, a list of stuff drops down, if you click the notice button, it has the info that you normally see when you 1st start up deck heroes. You can read each event X and their time period. I'll tell you now, lucky spin is not a good thing to spend your gems on. Don't spend 20 gems to upgrade a chest in maze.

BK✦GamerGurl33At start of the game, lists of events will pop up in you screen. They are events of today, of the week or of a span of time. Give some time reading them so you will know what kind of events you can participate in a specific time/day. For Maps, stars chests are there for you to claim whenever you complete a specific requirement to open a chest, right below the maps. Tap them to know what can you claim if you collect the no. of stars needed to open it. Happy Posting!

Wow, you guys! Not usually my style, but I'm feeling a little Taylor Swift right now, lol. The forum members who've taken the time to post here have literally blown me away. I really appreciate the help and especially the kind comments you've made. I've posted on a lot of forums and boards through the years, but this is truly the nicest welcome I've ever gotten.
I'm loving DH more every day, and now I have a place where I'm not only ok asking 'dumb' DH questions, but can also make a bunch of great new friends. Just wow.

Lol, seriously about Taylor Swift or was that just tongue in cheek (was the smiley a clue)?
I'll take it as serious and just say she gets all emotional and reverts to acting like she's about 12 years old whenever she gets a new award (she already has many, many of them and I think she's like 25). As I said, not my usual style, but you guys really got to me.

Ursa shard Update
FINALLY made it through Map 3, opened the gold chest and NO Ursa shards. Had major difficulty with the Hard level of the Hidden Dungeon (win with at least 3-2 star creatures), and was totally stuck on the 3-8 Hard Level (win with less than 2 creatures in graveyard), which took many, many tries.
Could there be a maximum number of tries to complete a map, and if you exceed them you don't get all the rewards? Should I ask Live Chat?
Maybe not getting Ursa isn't that big of a deal, but as a low level (29) f2p player, with only five 4 star cards and no 5 stars, it feels like it. Having played against her, she seems like a valuable card that I'd really like to have.
In case my experience might be helpful to some other f2p newbie, I believe that my problems finishing Map 3 were because my Creatures were not leveled enough, but I couldn't see how to achieve it. I didn't realize that the Map Guides are a relatively inexpensive way to get higher level Essence cards. Once I went back through the wikia, learned about them, and purchased the one for Map 3, I was quickly able to take some of my Creatures to Level 10, and then I sailed through it with no problem.
Any comments appreciated, even if it's just to forget Ursa and move on (which I'm pretty sure is the answer).
At game play Day 11, I'm still feeling relatively clueless about so many things, although I seem to be doing pretty well in all areas except Explorer's Gate. For instance in the Arena, I've moved from a starting rank of 12,996 to 4,096.

See from Map 1-3 first Silver Chest it gives 10 shards each for Ursa. Please check the image at the bottom i encircled the Shards Section - kindly check there if u can already Exchage the shards, that if you already opened all Silver or 1st chest from Map 1-3. Xerkspking, thank you so much. You've solved the mystery of the Ursa shards for me!
Silly newbie me, never thought about looking in the Map chests to see what they contain/contained. When I did, it turns out that I never opened the chests for Map 1, lol. The 20 shards I "mysteriously" acquired were from the copper chests in Maps 2 & 3, as you showed above.
Like I said before, it seems to me that when doing a game tutorial, I anyway, get tunnel vision, since you're only seeing the part that they're trying to teach you at that moment and basically concentrating on the narrative, rather than the game itself. Evidently that's how I missed the chests, since I didn't even remember doing Map 1. The tutorial only takes you through it on Easy level, so I still need to go back and complete the other levels to get my silver and gold chests, which shouldn't be too difficult at this point. Fortunately the Ursa shards are in the copper one just as you showed me, so I will have her now! Yay!
As far as the 5 stars creatures go, I haven't done my 1st 5x gem draw at the Altar yet, but probably will do it soon so I know I'll get one then. I'm f2p so had been saving my gems.
Thalassa will have to wait until I complete Map 5, when I'll have the last two cards needed to unseal. I still have to win 4-6,7 & 8 on Normal and Hard Levels, plus the Map 4 Hidden Dungeon. I've already made a stab at Map 5, and completed 5-1 Easy & Normal and 5-2 Easy.
Getting through Maps 4 and 5 might be a bit easier now. Last night I not only made Level 30, but I GOT POISON IVY! I'm soooo excited! I took the forum's advice and made obtaining her my first goal. I had read about her in the forum, and saw that a number of members consider her the best three star hero. She was very obtainable because I have been doing well in Trials and I could get shards for her every other day in the Trials Mall. I also spent some gems (I justified that because we got the 300 'bonus' gems for the login issue) to purchase shards for her through the Bazaar. I felt it was very worth it to get a great three star hero as the first one I added to the original 2-1 star heroes that everyone gets when they start the game.

I felt it was very worth it to get a great three star hero as the first one I added to the original 2-1 star heroes that everyone gets when they start the game. Given that you are quite new to the game I thought it may be beneficial to you if I highlight a couple of things which most of us unfortunately learned the hard way, so you will have an easier time with the game for first couple of months - Do the first x5 altar draw for the guaranteed 5-star, than don't look back ever to the x5 gem ripoff - seriously it's a waste of gem, don't use it - You can get coupons when a Facebook screen comes up (usually when you clear a map or get a 4-5-star creature). You can just share it with yourself on FB, so no one sees it on your feed and you still get the coupon - Coupon draws can also net you 5-stars and Maze completions as well - just not very often - Best price/reward ratio for 5-star creatures are Ultima chests (only from Maze 7 and onward, so not yet applicable to you) and Boosters - Unseal Thalassa ASAP, it's a gamechanger. Once you got it, don't stop and start getting creatures for 2nd Thalassa unseal. Seriously, totally worth the effort. - You need to know that currently the most important creature in the game is Great Mystic which you can get from Human Booster. Human boosters also have nice 4-star creatures, especially Swordmaster. - Save your duplicate 4-stars, later you can Meld a 4th skill on them! - Use the Map Boosters which costs only 350 gem. Absolutely worth it - Aim for a 4-star hero as soon as possible!!! First of all you probably should get a Wight (Mall in Trial + Guild Mall). It has the best damage dealing ability in the game and can use Undying (returns killed creatures to your hand with X% probability [probability based on skill level]) - If you haven't used Hero altar you might want to use it once - first draw usually nets you a 3-star hero. Then just like gem altar, never use it again. - Also now there are Hero Boosters sometimes, maybe it could worth a shot for new players to get something decent. - You can get most gems through Arena, where you get gems for setting new personal record in Rank. For example getting to Rank 1 from a previous record of Rank 2 giyes you 1500 gem! However bear in mind, you only get these gems once, so spend them wisely!!! (Boosters/Ultimas) - Buying STAR membership is worth it. - Look out for special promotions/events every day! - Once you settled in, try to join a really good guild - that will be more and more important as you progress in the game. As for me, as a level 71 player basically every important thing happens in the guild - There are a lot more other stuff but if you keep an eye on these things you will get used to the system more easily and will be able to explore all the myriad possibilities the game offers. Hope it helps, have a great gaming experience and welcome to the forum!

Hi, entropy, Thanks so much for taking the time to post all that great advice for me (and of course all the other newbies who'll read it for years to come . Seriously though, I'm still amazed at how kind and helpful everyone is here. Even when it's something that feels so dumb to me like not being able to figure out the Ursa shards, the only response was for so many of you to pitch in and keep on trying to explain until I finally got it. In most of the forums I've been in there's usually a fair amount of backbiting and nasty comments being flung around, but this one is way different. You guys rule! You've personally given me a ton of stuff to absorb and a lot of goals to shoot for. It seems there's a a whole lot of thinking and strategy involved in pretty much everything a player does in this game, or at least there can be. I guess it can be played on a lot of different levels, since not everyone wants to take the time to learn all the nitty gritty stuff. Me, I'm an information junkie, so I thrive on it. I know that you sharing your experiences with different parts of the game and showing me where I shouldn't waste my time or resources will be a huge help to me. Right now it's taking me more time to figure out what I'm going to do in the game than actually doing it, partly because I'm going back and re-reading stuff here and on the wikia about about each part of the game, and trying to keep it all straight and make good decisions. Mind you I'm not complaining...I love it. Usually it doesn't take me long to get bored with most games, but each one of the card/deck games I've played has been more challenging than the last, and this one most of all. I don't think I'll be bored for quite a long time.

Also I forgot to mention, you can look up Ragnarok 888's videos on Youtube where he explains quite detailed all the relevant information a new player need to know and gives lots of tips. Really-really good stuff, just start watching them in a chronological order. Btw he is still active both in the game and on the forum, using both places the name "Naruto" and is quite helpful as most of the people here. Enjoy the game and have a nice day!

Ursa Major shards are tricky: You get 30 of them when you clear the 3 first maps (10 per map). Then, Ursa Major will only drop in mazes. The 30 shards you get are the only Ursa Major shards you'll get in DH (Never got any after the 30) For Carnation, it's an event drop, you won't be able to finish it, except if the event comes back, and that's not gonna happen any time soon I once raided an Ursa shard I feel sorry for the guy who will probably be sitting on 29 ursa shards for the rest of his game

I thought those shards would be protected from raiding, but it doesn't seem like.... Good thing I've done all 3 maps quickly.
