Hello! So I've only been playing since Friday the 24th, but I'm hoping to get some help with deck building. I'm sure there is likely something good that I've overlooked. Currently level 31, on 6-8 in Explorer's. level 36 in trials.
Heroes: Predator (currently using) Legion Bowmaster Chaos Witch Poison Ivy Gladiator and some 2*s
Creatures: 5* Thalassa (level10) Nidhogg (level 10) Ash Beast (level 10) Balthazar (level 10) Great Mystic (level 10)
4* Cave Dragon Ghostly Judge Hell Knight Pit Lord x2 Nean Raptor x2 Mammoth R Ursa Major (level 10) Neander Giant x2 Pegasus Lord Flame Brave x 2 (level 10) Faen Rampager (level 10) Pale Dragon Treant Elder Centaur Chief x2 Oracle Arcane Master Swordmaster x2 (level 10 and 0) Royal Knight x 2 Colossus Juggernaut x2 Sentry Angel Cleric Icy Mage
I've been running with Predator then my deck of Nidhogg, Ash Beast, Great Mystic, both Flame Braves, Ursa Major and Faen Rampager.
Any tips using what I've got to improve the deck? I'm one shard for one creature short of getting Thalassa. Any tips at all are appreciated.

First off, do you like the faen faction? If you do, then build up predator to lv 7 or higher. If you don't, then work on his 4* replacement immediately.
Deckwise, if you like faen, then consider using treant guides with high level healer runes(lv 7 or better). Two of them will do wonders for your ash beast and flame braves. Ensure to put useful melds on them. I would suggest block with the rune at min lv5, or miasma7/8 to make them a little more offensive. To compliment the nidhog, ice arrow7 or discord 4 or better. If you did this one addition, your deck will feel a lot stronger immediately. Oh, also, get the best heal amplify to go with your hero.
If you don't like faen, then try to phase out the flame braves, they are a "crutch" that sucks you into magic decks, but faen tend to have the best creatures for magic decks.

As soon as you have that thalassa, meld the recycle onto a good creature suited to your deck, there's good posts in the forum on melding, but since you have a good faen thing going, I'd suggest horned beast. Farmable, obtainable, and a good fit with predator with faen aura 6 and higher

I am liking Faen. Although looking at some of the Human cards that I've pulled, I've been tempted to go that route as well. It seems a lot of them provide significant bonuses to other humans. Is it advisable to go with a single faction for the whole deck in the end?

In the end you'll want a minimum of 3 decks. Having good faction synergy can get you a long way but eventually you'll be mixing things more even if you don't early on. Some cards work brilliantly no matter what the faction is, especially Human cards which have a lot of unique skills that the other races just don't get. Faction based decks still work well for the synergy but you'll be able to include off-race cards or just go for a rainbow deck.
Id recommend focusing on 3 decks right now, even if they're not all useable quite yet:
Faen deck with Predator - This makes a great all around deck with a few Mass Heals thrown in. Ash Beast works beautifully as he's pretty tough, has great offense with Sweeping Blow & Unbound, and has Mass Heal which means you don't have to sacrifice an offensive card to stack up on your healing. Horned Beast will make an excellent Recycle card in this deck as stated above, though it may take you a while to farm enough copies. On thing I don't agree with is melding Treant Guides. They're excellent early game healing cards with a nice dose of offense since the introduction of runes but they fall off massively and you'll want to be replacing them long term - I'd find it extremely hard to justify wasting energy & upgrade materials to improve a card that you should be replacing pretty soon anyway.
Legion deck with Spiky Bits talent - This deck will help out massively on some of the 'story' dungeons & will make Faen Chamber 4 a breeze, you'll be wanting Spiky Bits to level 6 or above preferrably. It will likely be a good while until you get access to the 'good' Neander cards - their early game offerings are pretty weak. Spiky Bits is effective no matter what Neander cards you use though and you can keep improving the deck until it's more than a one trick pony - Nidhogg is excellent for a Neander based deck, providing a massive HP boost and brilliant lockdown with Delay 3. Eventually you'll likely replace Legion with Berserker.
Curse deck with Chaos Witch - Curse decks, especially with Voodoo runes, can help massively in several game modes & Chaos Witch is tailor made for them. Keep every Dark Witch you get your hands on, eventually adding Puppet Masters to the mix and maybe a Gorgon or Spirit Siren. This will help both for later maps & for clearing medium/hard objectives such as 'Use x Morti Cards' or 'Win in 20 rounds'. It can also be useful for Raids, Gauntlet, Tournament & Sky Arena.
Using just those decks is enough to get you through most of the games content.

Level up the Balthazar, Swordmaster and Thalassa when you get it. Map guides help.

Thanks for the help guys!
I'll keep working on the Faen deck with predator for now. Farming up shards for Horned Beast and Moon Guardian. Need to get past 6-8 now!

You should be working on your "Trial" 4* hero as well. Wight is recommended as mortii talents are absurdly strong overall and for guild map purposes.
Moon Guardian is pretty much useless for a 5* and 4* used to unlock her. I'd skip her until you really can spare to not use those 4*. Just skip to Venom Tyrant (to meld Sac 8 on something else like Graboid/Twins) and Phoenix when you can.

I've got enough to buy my first set of Trial 4* shards, just waiting for a good one like Wight to show up in the mall.
Moon Guardian is no good? Reduced magic damage, extra attack on burned (combined with Flame Brave), and can't be disposed of. Looked decent. You've got a point though in that it takes some good 4* creatures to get.

And I'd start working on Venom now, but sadly I'm stuck on 6-8 and Venom drops start in area 7.

Moon Guardian's only good thing going for her is Stoneskin and the free coupon. Otherwise, she is pretty underwhelming for a 5* and you will prefer a melded 4* than her. She got some uses for a deck that can make use of her Sneak attack, but probably a melded Royal Dancer would be better for that task and even her doesn't see much use. At your currently deck she doesn't have a real space.
You should have more than enough to reach map 8. Just level your good creatures like Balthazar, Swordmaster, and Centaur Chief.

I was able to get to 7-6 yesterday after my last post. Just leveled up Balthazar and one Swordmaster to 10 now. Hoping this will help out in the Gauntlet too!
just edited my post to update list of creatures.
