Hi guys,
I'm new here and need a basic info how to get shards to exchange heroes, creatures and upgrade my hero. Can you obtain them through fight or you have to buy them somewhere?

Most Hero shards you obtain from the shops.
The standard bazaar sells 5x 1* shards for 25000 gold, 5x 2* shards for 500 combat glory, and 5x 3* shards for 125 gems. Of these do NOT spend gems for the 3* heroes, you can spend glory on a couple of the heroes (mainly Defiler for Grimoire), but glory is better spent on runes and leveling hero skills. Finally you don't want to spend gold early on for 1* heroes as they are all bad and you want to move to a 3 or 4* as soon as possible, not to mention gold is a bit scarce early on. Once you have some spare gold, it can be useful to get a couple extra copies of the 1* heroes for disposable use in the gauntlet.
The Trials gives random hero shards every 5th fight, with higher level shards the further you get. You also get credits that are used to buy 3 and 4* heroes in the credit mall. It costs 300 credits for 3x 3* shards, or 1200 credits for 3x 4* shards. It's recommended you pick a 4* you want from here and only spend your credits on it until you get it.
The gauntlet occasionally gives hero shards from the fights, but also gives tokens, which can be spent in the token mall. For 500 tokens, you can buy 3x 3* shards, or for 1200 tokens, you can buy 3x 4* shards. Note that the heroes from the token mall are different than the heroes from the credit mall, the 4* heroes being the summoner heroes. It is recommended you pick a hero from here to focus on in addition to the one you focus on from the trials credits.
Guild credits are awarded for completing stages and maps in the Guild Map, and for ranking high enough in guild wars. These can be used in the guild mall to buy 3x 4* shards for 900 guild credits. The guild mall sells all 8 of the 4* heroes, so you will likely split up your spending on the two heroes you've chosen as above.
Eventually you will unlock the tournament, and holding a rank in there will get you tournament points. The main point of these is to buy 2x 5* hero shards for 4000 tournament points.
The mine gives ore, as well as 4* or 5* hero shards from the chests in each mine. The ore may be used in the ore mall to buy 5* hero shards at 750 ore apiece.
There is a small chance when raiding someone, that you will steal a hero or creature shard from them. You seem to only steal their lowest level shard available, so it will usually just be 1* shards.
Finally, hero shards can occasionally be bought through events, won from events, or awarded for spending certain amounts.

This caused the two star shard rewards in trials to get squeezed out(the one stars rewarded right up till three stars get rewarded). I've noticed that if you can rush to say, 60, you'll get mostly one stars and three stars, with one or two two stars. This is really really bad, because zora marauder, arguably the most needed two star, next to defiler, can only be obtained in trials. Expect your grimoire 5* battles to wait a few months or more before you can conquer that one easily.

You can also buy Zora or Defiler shards in Bazaar with glory. Defiler comes up quite often, but Zora is more tricky (rarely shows up but it does sometimes)

The bazaar only offers one of each faction in one and two stats respectively. They are: NightRider(fae 1*) Einherjar(human 1*) Necrolorde(mortii1*) Wild Rose(neander1*) 2*s: Defiler(mortii) Elder Mawrek(neander) Agni(fae) Captain Crook(human) The game even confirms this when you look at the source tab.

Captain Crook is very underrated. His pirate jig (steal ATK from enemry crits, in favor of your own crits), works well in Guild Maps. If you last long in the guild maps, in the end, your opponent is at 0 ATK.

^ A necrolyte that likes to resurrect dead threads
OT: Captain Crook is good in early game againts ceratin type of decks like a deck in Devagati that is heavily physical/sweeping blow focused, besides that, he's ok-ish.
