1. I sticky'd the thread. 2. I made the original post look more pretty.
If you have difficulty editing the original post, go into the "BBCode" view, and just add in whatever before the [/quote] tag. Although, just editing it normally shouldn't be an issue.

How to know which side won the day before? What strategy (lower deck power, which lane to choose, etc.) to maximise the streak when doing an all-in attack? Thanks

What do the watch towers actually do? I mean, I've always joined Alliance so I wouldn't know these things.

What strategy (lower deck power, which lane to choose, etc.) to maximise the streak when doing an all-in attack? Thanks I would like to see some answers to the questions above which never got addressed previously as far as I can tell, based on the Faction War event as it currently exists (November, 2016). Many have stated in the forum and I too believe, that FW has always been an event pretty much for the top DH players. It has evolved to where the average player doesn't even bother competing, if they ever did. Maybe part of why more people don't participate is because, even with the top players competing there aren't that many overall players so you end up fighting a lot of AI decks which are often very strong. There seems to be very little deck power matching except maybe during the first battle of a series, again probably due to the small player pool. Like it seems to be with everything else in DH (and the world these days), the prizes keep shrinking and shrinking. Are there strategies to deciding on deck power, which zone to choose, which lane to pick, decks for support battles, etc. that those of you who do participate can share? I hope that doing this might encourage more players to join in FW, since currently there's not much guidance out there. I participate in Faction Wars with all of my accounts (currently two), and usually manage to score some Merit Reward gems and the lowest or next lowest rank reward for Medal and Merit. I feel pretty much the same way toward it as I do about Sky Arena. I don't put a lot of time, gems, or effort into them, but based on what I contribute, I do feel that I earn some rewards that have value to me. I try to keep my deck power slightly lower than my normal main deck. This strategy can be problematic though. Since there aren't a lot of opponents, eventually you usually end up fighting against someone there's no way you can beat, unless maybe your deck was at full power with all your best cards. If you win a battle, you continue to fight up to 10 battles in a row, but of course your deck usually gets injured the more battles you fight. I usually pick the lane that has the most opponents as I think that way I'll have a better chance to get matched with some that I can win against. I do wish that IGG would do something to make these events more competitive and exciting for those of us who aren't huge play-to-pay whales that rank at the top of the heap. Who knows, they might even make a little money off of us . Anyway, I would appreciate advice on FW strategies for the areas listed above that any of you who participate are willing to share.

I don't think deck power comes into play here. When I reviewed the battles, I can see sometimes my deck going against decks with maybe around 70% of my deck power.
And what I don't understand is why must the battles take such a long time? Around 1 minute per battle. It's all auto matching anyway, I don't use "All Out Attack". So imagine if I am successful in 5 x 10 winning streak.... it'll take me almost an hour for me to finish using my horns.

I see deck power definitely being a factor, at least when your first opponent in the series is selected. If I try to use my full power main deck, my first opponent will have Druidess or Warbringer or something like that as its hero. I use Armageddon and while he is strong, he's not any match for those guys. If I run out of 4*/5* heroes and use something like Poison Ivy, I will generally get my first matchup with a deck that has a 3*, 2* or even a 1* hero.

I did however notice that it depended on which lane i used.

I know long ago some top players used druidess deck to lane hop every lane... this causes the AI to create "defense team" exact clone of this deck... So in a way creating some 10 win streak stoppers...

I did however notice that it depended on which lane i used. How do you decide which lane to pick? Good question! First I look which zone we are doing good in. Then I pick the lane where it seems we are winning in. If I see for example 5-4 in a lane for us, I pick that one. Doesn't always work, but for the most part seems like a good strategy. Just did it and got ten wins in a row. Anyone is more than welcome to correct me here if I'm wrong.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does the "All Out Attack" option exactly do? In general you have 5 warhorns but for all out attack you need 6 warhorns so you need to pay with gems for to get 1 more warhorn. In return you get much more merits and some 5* shards (if you achive 10 win streak). That's how it works

Can somebody help explain how medal works? My understanding is that it is an indirect way of spending gmes to by sparks. Like you buy lumber, then denote to the construction, then you get medal, then they award you sparks.. It sounds stupidly simply except there's no guarantee in each step (except the first). Do I miss anything?

Do I miss anything? For Medal rank you need to go 'Support'(not 'Deploy'!). 1 Fight cost 1 warmong. For winning fight you will get some lumber as reward(~10 - ~50). However if you lose you will get some lumber too, but less(~10). To convert lumber to medal rank points you need to donate lumber in 'Build Watchtower'.

Like you buy lumber, then denote to the construction, then you get medal, then they award you sparks.. It sounds stupidly simply except there's no guarantee in each step (except the first). Do I miss anything? The rewards for November 2016's FW are sparks for both Merit and Medal rankings. Nothing to do with 'indirectly spending gems to buy sparks'. In Faction Wars, gems are used to buy additional horns to do more battles after you've used up your free ones, or to heal your heroes and cards to full strength after they have been injured in previous battles. You also need to use gems if you want to do an "All Out Attack" which takes six horns, so you will need to purchase one in addition to your five free ones. To win sparks, you have to finish in the Top 1000 Merit Rankings, and/or Top 200 Medal Rankings. You can win in both categories. The top rewards for this Faction War are: - #100 or above in Merit points - sparks plus a rare 5* card.
- Top 3 in Merit points - sparks plus Light's Hand shards.
- #100 or above in Medal points - sparks plus Hydra shards.
- Top 3 in Medal points - sparks plus Taskmistress shards.
Click on "Rewards" to see the actual breakdown. To get Merit points, you deploy (click on Deploy button) your deck to battle, by choosing one of the three lanes to battle on, then set up your deck. This costs one horn. As long as you win, you keep battling to a maximum of 10 times at no additional cost. You win varied amounts of Merit points for every battle you participate in. To get Medal points, click on Support button. Your deck will fight a single battle which costs one horn. I don't know how they choose your opponent. If you win the battle, you will get Lumber and Medal points. Donate your lumber to build a Watchtower. I've never seen a Watchtower actually completed since Faction Wars started, although sometimes they've gotten up to 90+%. IGG says if you fight on a lane where a Watchtower has been completed, your deck will get a boost. When you go to the Build Watchtower screen, you can see the percentage that the Watchtowers are toward being complete for each of the three lanes.

Thank you both, VILNIETIS and BK✦GamerGurl33 . I was so stupid that already read "support" as "supply", and took that empty cart as an icon of "no lumber". I tried on clicking the + sign on lumber and got wrong impression that lumber is just gem.

But, again, what in Faction War attract players? 70 gems? a few sparks? I find it hard to believe the top decks are mobilized by light hand shards. I am guessing that not many people are participating. Like I only sent out maybe 2-3 troops, and got ranked 800+ (merit)...
I never tried all-out, does the 5* shard drop rate worth the gems (like, equivalent to 3rd mine)?

The pity about shards is that mostly I get Arcane Knight shards, Capri, Saggi, Cancer, Taurus are exceptional.

I never tried all-out, does the 5* shard drop rate worth the gems (like, equivalent to 3rd mine)? I added up the participant numbers in the three zones on the last day, and figured there were around 2,000+ players this time. I'm not sure about the top players, as I would rate myself only a high mid-rank player (Game Level 91, rank Top 10 in Arena, in high 1,000's in Tournament, and have beaten #120 in Trials but can't do it every time). I have participated in FW every time we've had it, with both my main and alt (lower game level) accounts. I felt like it used to be that Faction Wars was an easy, low cost way to get a couple of Meld Cards, Level IV or V, which was the lowest reward for both Merit and Medal. If you join the Imperials, who so far have always won, you get a high level (usually IV) creature rune for the win. Joining the Alliance gets you 20 gems just for joining, and it's usually easier to rank higher with weaker decks. You could usually rank within the reward levels without spending gems, or maybe only a few if you absolutely HAD to heal one of your heroes, and you got a few gems besides. Also, you didn't have to stay up nights, or even battle every time your free horns came up (every 3 hours?), to be able to rank high enough for a reward. However, things have been changing in DH and this time I think they changed drastically. First, IGG reduced the Medal rewards from Top 1,000 to Top 200, and the lowest rank rewards were Sparks instead of Meld Cards. Secondly, it seemed as if many more participants had high level heroes like Vile Songstress, Druidess, Warbringer, and Spirit Arbiter. More top players also seemed to have gone with the Alliance this time. Overall, I found this last FW much more difficult particularly for my main account, although both my accounts did get the 5 Spark lowest rank Medal (sorry, my bad....that should have said Merit) reward.

Thank you BK✦GamerGurl33 for those details. So here is my own experience, as a low level player. - Just pick red, so you get a vitality 4 rune and 20 gems.
- I believe it must be a different story for top players, but for noobs like me, it is (almost) totally based on luck. I only sent out about 10 troops, most of them just DOA (1-2 wins). However, 2 lucky ones managed to reach 10-win streak, enough to earn me 5 sparks. Nevertheless, more than half of my opponents were AI decks.
I guess I'll have to have a (much) stronger deck, in order to really participate.

rly want to know that too. first day i had a handfull 10 wins even 2 times in a row. now since yesterday i nearly always face lvl 93+ guys with vs, sa, druidess.
also sometimes i face the same deck 3times in a 10 row winstreak. also i face the same enemy no matter what lane i go and even 8h later, he is still there with same team and same hp..... makes no sense.
i constantly loosing ranks cause after first win i get a ultra strong guy. frustrating as f***. it says there are 1000 of guys playing yet i see nearly no one under lvl 90 or with lvl 4 hero or below. only 5stars

I have the same question too. I am checking my battles. I am facing against decks which is far stronger than mine. And many time I was fighting with the same one. I have tried to lower my deck power but again I have come across with guys who used just a few cards like....revive octavius. I had no chance. Is there any trick to build a deck for this event? Or what deck are you using to get 10 wins?
Unfortunately, i couldn't get 10 wins in a row. My best was 5. But what surprise me is that I am still ranked around 600. Which is absolutely not bad i think. Considering the effort I have made and no gems were used.

IIRC the first FW was much more consistend under this point of view, i.e. if you played with a low power deck you would have been matched against similar power decks. Now it seems to be completely random and very luck-based. Choose the "wrong" lane and you're pretty f***ed up for that day.

I have some 10 wins as I am around rank 150, but I still think something is not ok with the match maker... You need to experiment with your deck for sure. Basically the same as sky arena with the little problem mentioned above...
