You only live once is the acronym; used when someone attempts a meld with only one duplicate. Usually applies to rare cards.

A yolo meld is based on the phrase "You only live once" - YOLO meaning you gotta take some chances to really live.
This means trying to meld something unto a creature even tho you only have like 1 apprentice creature (extra copy).

"YOLO" is a reference to lyrics from a Drake song: "You only live once, that's the motto n***a YOLO." It's basically what one would say when doing something risky or potentially dangerous. In DH, "Yolo Melding" is the term used when attempting to meld a creature (usually a rare one) when you only have one duplicate.

No. In most cases people are certainly referencing Drake when saying "yolo". Although the term wasn't created by him, he did single handedly make it immensely popular, especially among the youth (AKA the majority of people who use the term). Most people who say "yolo" likely don't even know about earlier uses or similar phrases (like "carpe diem").

No, most people using the term "yolo" are, in fact, not referencing Drake. They're referencing the "yolo" concept. Most people using the term yolo today likely don't even know that there's a Drake song based on the concept. I can't even begin to explain how insanely wrong you are The only way for your statements to make sense would be if you thought Drake invented the terms "Yolo" and "You only live once". He did not. Drake wasn't even the first person in the 21st century to use the term, that would be Adam Mesh on "The Average Joe". Between 2004 and 2011, when Drake released his song, many, many, many people and artists used the phrase "Yolo", both in every day speech and as parts of songs. So, no, almost no one who uses the term "Yolo" are directly referencing Drake or his song. They're referencing the motto "Yolo" which was popularized by, but not invented by, Drake and his song. And, again, most people who use the term "Yolo" likely haven't even heard the Drake song.

In modern times, yolo is slang, used by younger kids and teenagers (because of Drake). They are the grand majority of the users of said term. Yuna pls.

I'll have to agree with god that yolo was popularized by drake. YOLO term might have existed a long time before but i never heard anyone say that till Drake mention it. I honestly got tired of that phrase because when it was popular(when drake 1st popularized it), pretty much everyone said YOLO everyday, it was kind of annoying, i heard that phrase everywhere.
I also like to add, ive never even heard of the song and I know its from drake. Well till i asked people and they all told me it was from drake. Not really a big fan of him, so i dont listen to his music.

I do agree that it become REALLY annoying during its peak in popularity. People were literally looking for any reason to say it.
Bob: "Dude don't eat that pizza, it's hot." John: "Whatever man f*cking yolo." Bob: "Your parents must be really proud of you."

Because Drake popularized it among his listeners, who then spread usage of the term. It spreads virally and most people who used the term did not also note its origin. You'd have to actively look for the origin of the term to find out that it was popularized by a Drake song. Let's say you walk down the street and some random dude says "Hey, let's get drunk and eat nachos 'til we puke. Yolo". What's more likely, that he learned the term from hearing the Drake song or he heard a friend use it, a friend who heard it from another friend, who heard it from another friend? Or one of the friends down the chain heard about it off the Internet. But let's say that a person using the term has heard the song, even knowing all the lyrics to it. Whenever they use the term "yolo", it is still not in reference to the song, it's in reference to the concept, which features in the song. Whenever he says "Yolo", he is not, in fact, saying "Do it like Drake in that Drake song!", he's saying "You only live once, you know, that popular phrase a lot of people use nowadays", even if he only found out about it through Drake's song and he loves the song.

Yes, I've know the term for years but only as soon as the drake song came out. And whether people knew it came from him or not, i think majority of people know drake made it a trend. I for one never heard that YOLO term once in my life till drake came out with that song.

It's actually bad for the forum and his posts should be deleted. Think about it, as a new player coming on this site finding nothing but false information. This place is known to be the reputable source of DH information; then someone comes along and spoils it by spewing dog dung.
