Okay, so you have different coloured equipment and different level materials of the same COLOUR. If you use all blue materials to craft something should you get a blue equipment? Whenever I put in best mats, even with all blue items, it only shows a percentage 100% in the WHITE box, not blue. Does this mean if I go ahead and craft it will only be white equipment? Why would I use blue materials to get only white equipment? Doesn't make sense!

It seems very strange that you can only be able to craft white equip no matter what material grade you put.

IGG really screws things up with their updates, it is at our own labour that we need to find out how new things work. No matter though, we have all found equipment pretty confusing at the beginning.
So there are 5 different levels of equipment, ranging from 1 to 5. Now, within these, there exists different sub-level equipments.
Colours ranging from white to orange represent these different sub-level equipments in increasing order of effectiveness/proc rates.
For example : An orange lvl1 equipment might give you a dodge prof rate of a Max of 1%
Now an orange lvl5 equipment might give you a 40%
A purple lvl5 equipment might give you 30%
And a white lvl5 equipment might give you 5%
If I remember correctly then purple equipment is equal to an orange equipment which is of a lower level. For example purple lvl5 equipment = orange lvl4 equipment ; purple lvl4 equipment = orange lvl3 equipment and so on.
Now I don't know how you are getting a 100% chance to make a white equipment with all blue materials but yes, a 100% on white implies a 100% probability to craft a white material.

This is what I mean!
The mats are blue and purple but showing 100% for white box--I'm assuming that this means if I were go-ahead and click craft I can only make white equipment. Should it be like this?

Consider reading one of the 20 threads already created that explain this in more details. I have done, several times, but I am still confused! I have seen guides telling me I can get gold equipment by using certain colour combinations of materials but I rarely get anything showing in the boxes above 100% white (see screenshot in earlier post). Occasionally It shows 74. something % white + 20. something % green but that's all, nothing in the blue/purple/gold boxes/figures.

With the figures above doesn't it mean that I can never get above white?

ur trying to craft a level 5 equipment. the only way to get a higher color is to use all orange / purple materials. if you go to lvl 4 / 3 / 2 equipment, you will see that with the same materials the rate goes up
you need to craft an orange level 3 anyway before you have a decent (42%) shot at crafting a level 5 orange equipment (which requires all orange mats + orange equipment sacrifice)

I am not sure if you have tried crafting before? Coz when it first came out, I accidentally skipped the tutorial and just kept clicking on the icons instead of dragging them into the furnace thing for smelting.
You can craft white and green materials that way. You can then combine 4 materials of one colour to upgrade them into one higher material. For example: 4 white materials = one green material. 4 green materials = one blue material. And so on..

I think Winter has identified the problem, I was seeing it as a linear progression in that you had to do white Levels 1-5 and then go on to the coloured levels after that whereas I actually need to go back down levels to have a decent chance of getting the higher coloured/better equipment with the materials available. Thanks, guys, for sorting me out, as usual!

Thanks, guys, for sorting me out, as usual! Scatterbrain, the IGG programmers must have been taking some really good drugs when they came up with the parameters for making Equipment. It would seem logical that since you only need White mats to make White equipment up to Level 5, that the same would apply as you continue up the color levels. But, no that's not the case at all. The higher on the scale the color and level of the equipment that you're trying to make, the increasingly higher overall level of the mats that are required to make it. Most advanced level equipment usually needs at least one orange mat to have a decent chance of actually getting it. With an orange mat in the mix, it's possible that some of the other mats can be at green or even white level and you will still have a good chance to make the color that you're going for. dhinstructibles has made some charts in the BK Equipment Guide, which show the mat color combos needed to make various equipment and the chance each has to make it. I believe (though no one has been able to tell me whether or not this is actually true) that you increase your chances of getting a secondary attribute if you use the best mats you have available when crafting. I "chintzed" out early on when I was making some of my advanced equipment, thinking that if I had almost as good a chance with a white or green mat as I did with a blue or purple one that I should 'save' the higher level mat. However, I almost never got a secondary attribute when I did that and my skill percentages were on the low end of the possible range. Don't make the mistake that I did in the beginning, of thinking any Green equipment is better than the white Lvl 5 equipment you've already got just because it's Green. Only Green Level 5 equipment exceeds White Level 5 equipment as far as the attribute percentages. You really shouldn't even bother making Green equipment, and just move right along to Blue and above. I know you said you were trying to make Blue equipment, so this may not apply, but just wanted to say it because it was very confusing to me at first. After you select your mats in the Crafting screen, click on each color's probability in the upper right hand corner and it will show the skill percentage range that color equipment at that equipment level can get. That way you can see if it will have a higher attribute percentage than the equipment you already have. I hope some of what I've said helps you understand the equipment crafting process a little better. The whole thing has been exceedingly confusing from the get-go, and IGG has been of very little help in actually explaining any of it. I know its given me many headaches and made me half crazy a number of times, while trying to make some sense out of something that essentially has very little logic to it. Thank goodness for this forum and our fellow players for helping us piece information together for this most confusing part of DH.

Just start smelting for an equipment and stay with it. Say if you picked level 5 thorium boots. Then you would need one white wing, one white gnarl, one white steel and one white juice jar. Each white material can be smelted 2hrs at a time, just go to the smelting pot, select the white grade at the bottom then click and drag. Once you have enough, craft 1white level thorium boot. Rinse and repeat, once you have 4 white level thoriums boots you can go in to equipment stash and upgrade 4white to one green. Rinse and repeat. Once you have 5 green you make a blue level thorium boot which offers 5%. Just keep on going lad. Smelt away till you can't smelt no more and once then smelt some more!!!
