Hey guys. This thread has been a long time coming so far, but finally I have the first hand experience to document and give a blueprint for defeating this exceptionally difficult yet valuable grimoire for you guys.
The rules on survival are survive 15 rounds of attack, and that really means get to round 33 without losing your hero or all your cards. Since the enemies have various attacks they come at you with, the deck must be able to cope with multiple different stresses.
Our hero for this battle: Royal Guard Blessing skill makes it impossible for the enemy to kill your cards using only damage attacks, making this skill the one to use.
HOWEVER...you need this skill you be cast EVERY round of play in order to keep your cards shielded from attack. To do this, you require cards that can heal themselves a massive amount during your turn, so the enemies can damage your cards again and "refill" your hero rage bar, completing an endless blessing cycle for your deck.
Next issue, is the matter of hero damage. If you were to let your hero sit for all rounds without playing your cards, your hero will have to absorb a little over 320,000 hero damage over the 15 rounds. Since that's impossible, you absolutely MUST deploy a deck of cards to put a "wall" in front of that damage, for attacks, and bless skill to heal the incredible damage from the soul eater skill.
With this info, it becomes clear there is three things your cards must each have in order to full fill the needs of survival. 1-heal the hero (bless or sanctify) 2-heal your creatures (mass heal, holy light, restoration, etc) 3-avoid being frozen from the skill Tempest (unbound, immunity, renew, cleanse)
Feel free to spend hours thinking of magical combinations of creature skills that can hit these requirements, but I can say the gold standard for getting all these points checked off is 1-Oracle with Unbound or i10 melded -or- 2-Ash Beast with Bless melded.
So our blueprint for winning this grimoire looks like Royal Guard hero 10 x unbound melded Oracles
But this, sadly, isn't enough...
All creatures, in order to ensure the hero rage gain is enough in the beginning with only four cards on the board, MUST have a bless rune at lv8 or higher. If you are using ash beasts in place of Oracles, then Vitality runes with bonus HP help to offset the lack of higher max HP that Oracles have through Sage Advice.
And your hero, in order to squeeze every drop of hero life you can from skills, needs faith heal lv 8 or higher. Also the hero needs ice shell to give frost armour in the beginning to help the first two cards live for one round.
Lastly for runes, four cards need to heal as much as possible, and there's always a chance one card gets rip on them right away, so in order to heal three cards more than 900 life, you need to have a heal amplify with 75 bonus healing. You also need initial rage at at least a bonus of 15 rage. If not, you can spend 20gems on a hero rage buff for the day. Not the ideal scenario, but works in a pinch.
And finally, the dreaded hero VigorV rune. Yes required. Period. There's no way around this.
My play tests had me win the battle taking 70,000-90,000 damage on the high (120,000 in battle version 2 below). This shows that your hero vigor should be a minimum of lv7, and ideally lv8 to be safe. If you can nail down lv9, you should double the win rate because even the instakill won't affect you.
Game play style. To play this deck, it's fairly simple. You need to lay down two oracles first turn, this allows your card flow to continues as your hand has room for the next cards. Every time I wait for four or five cards to be ready, and have to wait for new cards for two or three rounds, I lose. After the two cards go down, frost armour talent hits, and they should survive the first round AND your hero will be ready to cast blessing.
Second round is auto basically. Nothing else to do but watch the fireworks. You will lay a card one for one with each enemy card, and this will cut hero damage down the most you possibly can. Unbound ensures you cast bless every turn without fail to compete with soul eater doing 15,000 damage each round.
Two weaknesses in the deck that will lose the match: 1-chainstrike is actually good for this deck because it recharges hero rage instantly and you are ready fir next turn, but if chains trike is card one or two on the board before you cast blessing the first time, there's no way around this, there's a 1/5-1/10 chance of this happening. 2-instakill card puts you at nine cards once it fires, but it doesn't guarantee a loss. If this card shows in first three, it's a guaranteed win, as this gets hero damage down to 65,000-70,000. If it shows as card 8,9,10, then it will almost result in a win as you've spent most of the beginning holding off the damage. For instakill dropping as card 4,5, you will likely lose, and most definitely lose with hero vigor lv7.
That's it guys.
Drop two cards, end, auto, win about 60-70%.
I know this deck takes an eff'ing long time. I've been working on it forever. But it's the best win formula I've personally seen to date. This grimoire challenge is exceptionally difficult and for goods reason. ProteanV guys...

Cole's notes version of the above...
Deck: Royal Guard any level Ice SHIELD(NOT ice shell) 1+ Faith heal 8+ Hero VigorV lv 7 (8 preferred) Initial rage any (15 rage or better) Heal amplifyIII or better (75+ heal)
10 x Oracle, unbound or i9+(NOT TOO MANY, less damage from skills is less rage build) Bless Rune lv8+
Play first SINGLE card to activate ice SHIELD and begin rage bar. After first round, just auto. There's nothing else to do special.
Cheers guys!
***post edited to reflect using ice shield over ice shell. Win rate is a solid 2/3 using this method with hero vigor lv8

Very nice. The only good news is that by the time I farm 50 more oracles I'm certain I'll have my hero vigor up to 8

Very nice. The only good news is that by the time I farm 50 more oracles I'm certain I'll have my hero vigor up to 8 I know ten melded oracles suck balls, but ash beast with bless works too, if you have some beasts from coupon draws and the like, sitting around, which many people do, that can reduce the farming time bro. Hope that helps. Also it's worth noting, that I have a Santa Claudia that works in the deck too. It makes me lose though, if she is first drawn.

It's my shorter term goal and I haven't gotten around to figuring it out completely. I just know it's a lot easier and that protean IV's are a lot better than protean III's.

For Protean IV you need Berserker as Hero with Hero vigor V lvl 6-7 and all crits with bless (Oracles, Blood warcloks and so on, can be unmelded also fits Drone and Dragonloard). Don't place any crit till R10-12 and then auto. With this setup 95 proc. win rate.

I wonder, who the hell would ever meld i10 on oracle? ;P anyway, somewhat nice guid, this grimoire is hard as elephant. I would never, now would I ever recommend that. I don't really like wasting i9 even. On that though, i9 can work pretty solid in this build, as you only need to avoid tempest, which puts the likelihood at lower than 10%. So generally, you have a statistical probability of getting frozen enough to cost about 1200 hero damage per battle for each i9 used. This is acceptable for using two or three to get you started for those who have them. To offset the extra damage, try to get faith heal to 10, as that will bump the healing over 1000 higher than FH 8 does over the battle. Hope this helps.

ProteanIV I use judgement with a wheel barrel full of oracles. Sticking with oracles offsets the chance of cards dying since they end up with 3500-4000 life to soak up big hits. But I never did proteanIV, until I had my Vigor at 70,000, so that may have been it anyway.

***Update on this challenge.
Looks like one critical ingredient in this is ensuring your hero gets the rage enough to get the cycle going. On the fourth card drop, if it's instakill, you lose one oracle and the hero rage doesn't get to 100. Once this happens you lose.

Alright listen up. Get 5-6 henrietta with i7. Get a couple dragonlord. Get three other faen healers with immunity, ash beast will work too. Predator lvl10. Heal amplify rune, faen vigor rune, all vigor rune, hero vigor rune. Rune up all your guys for max vitality. With that you can auto prot five. If it doesn't work, buy a couple hp buff, because your hp might not be high enough. Upgrading mass heal also seems to help.
Why is this setup better?
1. You can auto. 2. Henrietta are a lot easier to get than oracles and i9.

It will need hero vigor, but maybe not lv7-8. Grizzly will only take 150 soul eater damage per cast, but the Grizzly needs to come out too, so can't just pass off on the hero rune, as predator is going to take at least SOME damage.

If the bear is supported well enough it should mitigate an huge amount of HP loss (at lv.10 he also takes half damage from basic/magic attacks), right?
Btw I think I'll stick to Butte's strategy because I have already 8 melded oracles (4 FA makes it a little bit less robust than full i7/unbound but I did manage to succeed with 50% chance last saturday)

I would think, because it's predator, that the hero damage is no longer the issue, the issue now becomes keep you creatures alive. And that's really the critical factor I'd say. Honestly Monkeylord, the Henrietta's are pretty smart bro. Great job on that! Lol! Since I've put in the ridiculous effort to build my oracle army, I better stick with it. But yes, it looks like your build will get higher success results than mine.

Honestly it wasn't my idea. I got the info third-hand. Didn't take long to make, since henrietta is easy to get quickly. I was trying oracles too, but it was very frustrating. I was supposed to keep this quiet, but watching people struggle sucks. Don't want people to waste their time. Hope the dh illuminati won't off me.

Some didn't want competing guilds to get the info. Some secrets stay private for competitive reasons, others, glitch-related, aren't shared for fear they will be patched out. I think the shard swap fell into both categories. My guild had just caught up with the shard-swap info and got our alts ready, then it was patched out the next day. A couple of us just barely started, one account was banned.
Anyway, I know a fair amount of people know this method (including major guilds) and was really surprised it was kept so quiet. Some people even suggested something close on the forum, but melded bless instead of immunity 7, which probably wouldn't work. I agree, we should share information like a community.
This is really one of the tougher challenges in the game. Every time a method started working, a patch would kick it down. Drone didn't work then eq didnt work. Meanwhile, other ways of getting protean V were removed to raise demand and a price tag was attached. So, save your money and get predator 10 and henriettas.
I'll post a video if I have time the next grim shows up if I have time.

Thanks a lot Monkeylord, Shard rotation was an obvious exploit involving 2 accounts. This one is not... Anyway coming from SW industry for sure every game is recorded so if they want to nerf it they probably would. Shard rotation was harder to identify, very nasty bug... They for sure know about e.g. Defiler trick and they would have nerfed it but they did not. Which does not mean they will not. Same goes for this one if it starts to be using by all players which I doubt so... For now I personaly am more than satisfied with prot 4 If you have time to post the video that would be great. Your time to answer this is highly appreciated, brings back fate!

1-Oracle with Unbound or i10 melded -or- 2-Ash Beast with Bless melded. So our blueprint for winning this grimoire looks like Royal Guard hero 10 x unbound melded Oracles Drop two cards, end, auto, win about 60-70%. 60-70%? Never. Battleblow will kill one Oracle in the first round when it triggers infront of any Oracle. And thats only one problem... (Instakill, "the hero killing card" will onehit oracles in round 1, chainstrike in round 1, Sweeping Blow in round 1, etc) This Strategie won´t work good. 10 Unbound-Oracle are a waste of time. And i don´t recommend an I10-Oracle. It isn´t worth it. I7 is enough.

Plus i7 oracles works extremely good given that you removed Ice Shell talent, otherwise you're right, not enough rage build up.

Except this method doesn't work because your hero will die before the required amount of rounds are up. It works, and it works on auto. I have 23 protean V runes now. Missed the Predator part. Then you're lucky because that setup doesn't protect well against Battleblow being placed on certain creatures, like the Hero Hunter one.

Ouch dude. Thanks for attitude toward those trying to help others. And yes, after my first night the next round came and I had lower success. It was 4 wins from 14 attempts, so less than 50%. Sorry for that guys... But seriously, butt, I mean Butte, why act like a dink to the people on here trying to help improve game play of others?
