I guess I'll start this forum off looking for players who play either Hearthstone or MTGO in addition to the addiction that is Deck Heroes.

I started playing HearthStone but it requires a $40 investment to unlock the 2 extensions so I gave up (getting enough gold to buy them would take 2 years). Is MGTO greedy as well?

MTGO would be the same as it's paper counterpart. You must pay for the cards you wish to use. I've been playing online for about 12.5 years. Time has its benefits. Hearthstone has a free to play model that is actually quite good. $40 to unlock the adventures is not actually very much compared to a lot of games. Consider the game it's lore follows...World of Warcraft with a $15 a month fee. (Not including the several expansions) But if you play consistently you can earn the gold in a few months.

Not entirely the same but I play a lot of paper MTG. I kind of want to get into MTGO for practicing constructed, (difficult to get solid opponents IRL) but I spend around $500 a month on paper magic and prefer it to the digital counterpart.

Other than the client itself is dog crap, it's not bad. I like being able to play whenever I want without having to leave the house. I'm a vintage player mostly; used to play legacy, but haven't in a while. I also have a foil obsession, so there's that.

If I played MTGO it would purely be to further my Paper Magic game and to play when I want. I'm not foil obsessed but I am trying to amass a playset of every card in the game.

I play Hearthstone occasionally. I used to grind it a lot, but after getting most of the cards I wanted, I just got burned out. I probably gonna come back when all the new expansion's wings are open.
I play paper magic as well. I'm more of a collector than player, but I always have a couple of EDH decks and one standard one ready. I had one Modern one, but they banned cards from my deck for the second time that got me a little pissed. First I had Jund (banned BBE and DRS) and later Birthing Pod.

Yeah, still it gives me the bitter taste. Well, I didn't invest much on them anyway. I had one since the beginning when it was a "cheap" T1-T2 deck.

I play HS also but I just felt something lacking in that game. Don't know why? I cannot make myself an addict of it. For me, maybe an in-depth campaign mode. The wings are fine and all, but they are kinda like a cheap laugh. It's fun for a while and provide some deck building challenge, but they become forgettable too fast. If they had something that last longer which rewarded the grind, it could keep the players coming for more. As of now, you grind to grind more only basically and this can be tiresome playing the same two to three decks over and over to complete quests. I heard Hex may have a better campaign mode (or something along the lines). PVP is fine and all, but some deep P vs AI is also good. Otherwise, it's very polished experience and hopefully after coming to phones, it will make other mobile cardgames as polished as experience.

I played hearthstone quite a bit but kind of lost interest. The legendary tournaments were a lot of fun competing for a chance to go to blizzcon. I thought I'd get back into it when they released it for android but having to start over was a big turn off. You don't have to spend money in the game at least. If you read a basic arena guide/tier list you can average 7 wins per run and basically have unlimited resources.

I used to play mtg on paper.. around 17 years ago.. had a nice sized collection and then just gave it to the kid next door haha. But recently I played mtgo 5 to 3 years ago on and off and realized I was too poor to satisfy my magic crave. So I moved to deck heros. Happy with it just paying for star membership.

I think we're all too poor to completely satisfy that crave. Haha. I hear ya though. Magic isn't exactly a cheap game to get into...especially if you're looking to play competitively.

LOVE magic the gathering.
Played it heaps when I was younger, over 10 years ago now but still have all my good cards in a folder somewhere.
I tried MTGO but didn't want spend money and hit a wall like straight away haha but now I've been into dh for a while I can see why people would spend money online for a game like MTGO. I can also see the benefits of playing online to help tactics.
Never played heartstone.

Old MtG player here. Played from Unlimited up to when Mirage just launched. Had a big break, then another stint just before Mirrodin block went out of Type II. I still have some cards (couple of shoeboxes). Alas, can't justify the spend and return on investment. One of the main reasons, if not the top reason, for me playing TCG/CCGs is the artwork. I'm a huge John Avon fan. Deck Heroes hooked me with the awesome art. Gameplay was like MtG with a lot of the calculation of effects automated. What's not to like?! Then the reality of Freemium games sank in. I still play, I'm a Star F2P player. Just hit Lv80 and the guild I'm with (Fames) consistently smash through the top 20 even when only over half the guild members actively participate (from what I gathered). Anyway here's a few examples of why Deck Heroes art is awesome. Wight Flying Snake Lady Puppet Kumiho aka 1/2 of the rage inducing pair of 11-4 Paragon (she looks like an evolved Swordmaster) Thanks for reading.

It's been a while I had a draft. I just had my first MM2015 draft. Usually I'm pretty unlucky in terms of pulls, but tonight I got the jackpot. I pulled a foil Vendilion Clique, Elesh Norn, and Fumigator Mage. I got even some couple bombs passed to me and janky foil rares! Both guys around opened money cards like Crypt Command, Noble Hierarch, and Tarmogoyf. The guy in my front pulled Dark Confidant and Ulamog. The box was jacked.
We played 2 pods and the other pod (8 players each pod) only pulled janky stuff. I ended the night first place with a solid RB bloodthrist deck.

Some card shops will let you keep a "money pack" and you can buy an extra pack to replace it. Because if you open something like Foil Cryptic + Tarmo or vice versa, it's disheartening to pass one or the other lol.

Yeah, that happened in one table before. I don't recall what he pulled, but it was the second pack and the owner said he could replace the pack which is nice because it won't screw the pod if that player left.

I prefer those kinda shops anyway. If you're lucky enough to pull something like that. You should keep the value. Plus, tarmo is just bad in limited anyway, it's only taken cause it's money. So replacing it with a playable card makes the draft more enjoyable.

Anyone seen the newly launch Magic Masters? Look it hooks me up if im not doing DH. Still alot to improve but the thing is Its more fun than HS as you will forget time in an instant. lol. The thing that amazes me is it has only 10 energy for u to use in maps and in Raids, in maps needs 1 per battle while in raids 2 per battle but honestly in just ten energy especially if you play pvp you will be shock you already consumed not less than 4 hrs. lol. Really a great time killer.
