Hi guys,
I've read a LOT about melding. What creature to meld and what to put on as his 4th skill. Everything clear until here. But what i didn't find anywhere is what are the costs for doing that, what is the optimal meld(the minimum creature duplicates required - not counting luck, of course) and the optimal time(for sure is the 2x meld event). But lets make this "a la carte".
So there are 2 major types of melding: 1x and 2x. No point to detail here, everybody agrees 2x is the BOMB
Success Expertise rate[%]
1) This is important to be prepared when the meld events come to know exactly how many creature duplicates you need for meld. There is a normal 1x/2x and an optimal 1x/2x depending on the number o duplicates you use and the costs involved doing it. Normal means spending only gold while optimal means spending gold and gems.
Let me explain now: lets take 2x Opitimal for tier 1 spells (spells are splitted in 2 tier because of their costs): a creature that will be melded will require 3 duplicates to be melded with succes(like i said lets leave the luck out). By melding sequence i mean:
As you see, there isn't any point in making an 1x Optimal as the number of duplicates used is the same. But if you want to use gems to meld during 1x go ahead.
2) So that now you know the number of duplicates lets see the costs for one(1) spell meld. First of all, the cost of melding of a skill depends on the level of the skill. The higher the level the bigger the cost.
TIER 1
TIER 2
So lets do the same like earier, for a 2x Optimal, tier 1 spell, lets say level 7, using the melding sequence it will cost you:
gem: 1x 176 = 176 gems
gold: 1x 440.000 + 1x 440.000 = 880.000 gold
So melding a tier 1 spell on a creature will require 3 shard, 176 gems, 880k gold. This is the optimal meld during an 2x event. The same thing will apply to tier 2 spells but always check the number of duplicates necesary for success. This is the maximum number of duplicates, gold and gems that you can pay in order to meld successfully.
Stay with me a little bit, I am almost done
3) The last point is the spell tier.
TIER 1 SPELL LIST
TIER 2 SPELL LIST
These are the two spell tier lists. There is also a third tier list but that one is with the spells that cannot be learned (like sweeping blow and other 5* creature based skills)
So the next time you want to meld, lets say, Recycle(tier 2 - Thalassa) spell on a Horned Beast you will need to know that in order to do it with the least duplicates you will have to wait for a 2x meld event and prepare also 3 duplicates, 256 gems and 1.92M gold.
I hope this will help you a little bit more from now on.
Best regards,
JonathanRO
p.s.: please excuse my grammar errors but took a lot of time to write this post so there is a small possibility to make mistakes.
Later edit: ty dmnhard for the correction: during the 2x meld event the expertise is doubled not the Success rate.

Tier 1 spells | Tier 2 spells | |
1x Normal | Gold: 20% Gems: 30% | Gold: 15% Gems 22.5% |
2x Meld event | Gold: 40% Gems: 60% | Gold: 30% Gems: 45% |
1) This is important to be prepared when the meld events come to know exactly how many creature duplicates you need for meld. There is a normal 1x/2x and an optimal 1x/2x depending on the number o duplicates you use and the costs involved doing it. Normal means spending only gold while optimal means spending gold and gems.
Spell tier | Meld type | Melding sequence | Number of duplicates |
Tier 1 spells | 2x Optimal 2x Normal 1x Normal | 1x (2x 30%) + 1x (2x 20%) + 1x (2x 20%) 3x (2x 20%) + 1x (2x 20%) 5x (1x 20%) + 1x (1x 20%) | 3 duplicates 4 duplicates 6 duplicates |
Tier 2 spells | 2x Optimal 2x Normal 1x Normal | 1x (2x 22.5%) + 2x (2x 15%) + 1x (2x 15%) 4x (2x 15% )+ 1x (2x 15%) 7x (1x 15%)+ 1x (1x 15%) | 4 duplicates 5 duplicates 8 duplicates |
Let me explain now: lets take 2x Opitimal for tier 1 spells (spells are splitted in 2 tier because of their costs): a creature that will be melded will require 3 duplicates to be melded with succes(like i said lets leave the luck out). By melding sequence i mean:
- First meld: 1x (2x 30%) - 1 duplicate melded during the event using gems (2x 30%= 60% chance)
- Second meld: 1x (2x 20%) - another duplicate with 2x 20%= 40% chance. By this point you achieved 100% success rate.
- Succes meld: 1x (2x 20%) - last duplicate for the successful melding
As you see, there isn't any point in making an 1x Optimal as the number of duplicates used is the same. But if you want to use gems to meld during 1x go ahead.
