I've been thinking of quitting the game lately, I just feel like its to hard to get anything good without spending lots of money, yeah I was lucky enough to get a Fafnir but its only one card and a single card isn't gonna make my deck great. And this new 5* evolution update just seems like its going to push the f2p players to have to spend money if they want to get high rankings in the arena, gauntlet, etc. I haven't fully quit yet but its looking like that's what's gonna wind up happening. still you all are really cool people so I still wouldn't mind talking to you all.

If you have lost the affinity for the game, then I don't blame you for leaving it behind. If you DO stay, then don't bow to pressure and buy Gems. Trust me though, there are days I want to stop playing too, but I always come back because of people like the ones here on the Forum. I knew coming into the game that p2p will always outclass me. So is the nature of online gaming. You have hackers and cheaters on console/computer games as well, so I have just come accustomed to never being "the best". Gaming is just not what it used to be. On a personal note, I've grown to really like you and you are one of the people I look forward to replying on a daily basis.

Yeah, I'm kinda on the fence as well. For instance, it's been a while I bought games from companies with dubious services and marketing like the big three (EA, Activision, and Ubisoft). I simply don't touch their stuff anymore, so I wonder why I keep playing this game made by a company with bad ethics (or maybe worse) like these cited.
This game isn't even a proper P2W. It's only P2W if you spent ungodly amounts of cash on it where most of the real rewards are. Seeing people burn their hard earned cash and spend it on traps like Lucky Spin and Altar draws is heartbreaking.
I really wish the company had a bit less greedy and made the focus of the game less about 5* and more about all around usefulness in all rarities (sorta like Magic: the Gathering where decks full of uncommons and commons can sometimes be competitive). Even Hearthstone isn't much about Legendaries. For other example: Terra Battle. It's a freemium game with a decent and helpful community and their website is actually very useful unlike that joke official forum. It's from a Japanese company, so being from a Singaporean company isn't an excuse.
This game only rewards patience. We may not reach top 10 trial, but eventually you will be able to conquer the maps you are stuck on. Still the pleasure you get for these is very fleeting.
I guess the only thing keeping me on this game is this community as well. I really wanted to say "keep going", but I simply can't and this is sad.

Online Games nowadays are booming that is why most of the companies think of gaining as much profit as they can before it booms out. I fully understood this because I am an accountant of a Gaming Company where our Softwares, Accessories and Hardwares are suffering drops of sales in the past 5 years because of online games. I am just a below average spender in the games I played online because I make sure that I am entertained more than I spend. Believe me or not but I am stuck in 8-11 for a long time and my best account only have 7 5stars but I still enjoy the game because I keep it as my entertainment buddy. Actually to be honest I am playing the Taiwan version of this game also and I found myself so much satisfied with the rewards I get everyday. They have plenty of activities and it gives alot of freebies. One time they give 4 straight days 675 gems then one day they give you 2200 gems then another 10 coupons or 100 energies all for free. I was really enjoying it, the downside though is you have to use google translator to understand their FB page that always shows the events and freebies to get everyday. Jacob I hope you can stay for a while, as a new friend here in forum you have shown brightest of enthusiasm of this game I see. I guess you just have to tweak a little of your spending habits and enjoy the game more. Good Luck!

On a personal note, I've grown to really like you and you are one of the people I look forward to replying on a daily basis. I actually just recently got a phone a few months ago and I love video games so I was confused when I saw pretty much every single game on google play is free and I wondered why?, well the first game I downloaded was clash of clans because all my friends used to play it and I thought it was pretty cool, but I couldn't because I didn't have a phone.so I download it and if you've played it you know its a waiting game I don't mind waiting, I have never felt obligated to buy gems in clash because I don't need to, I know in time I could be a very strong player that never spent a dime on it.then I played this game and I started to realize that why all these different games are "free" there free in a sense to play but in order to be good or actually finish the game you'll wind up spending some amount of money on it.i totally agree video games are definitely not what they used to be,yeah you had to buy it but after that you never had to spend money on it again and the cost of that purchase price usually 60$ isn't nearly as much as you'll wind up spending on a "free" game like this. And I also enjoy talking to you too

I know man its just a terrible money hungry game that forces you to just give it every single one of your paychecks If you want to be good. I never mind spending money on console games because I know I'll never have to spend insane amounts of money on it at the most I might buy some dlc for it but that's the most.

Honestly I've just been treating this like a CCG I'd play in real life and dropping maybe $10 a week/fortnight and just save gems until a booster event or something and it's worked out pretty well, of course I'll probably never get a 5* melded or 5* hero or w/e but that doesn't particularly matter I guess as much as I dislike IGG and their business practices I love the game and will probably keep playing until the day it gets totally run into the ground. Being new to the forum and such I can't really say I know many people here but I'm loving the general attitude of the place and people here but I hope I'm not too late to the party that people are already leaving

I used to play a game called kingdoms of camelot. Was really populat browser game. IGN game of the year all that. In its hayday they released their financials, and that game on the f2p model was making 40-50 mil a month.
There was an article while back says the average player on a popular f2p game spends $50-$100 a week in game.
This games been dl over 1 mil times. If only 250k of them are actively playing, and only 100k bought stars, just stars, they are making 700k a month lol. This game is a CASH COW!
I enjoy it free but other than stars they will have to show me significant value and customer service improvement before i buy more than my first gem purchase.

I know this feeling all too well. Many times I go on the game just to get frustrated, feel like quitting etc. Main reason I play is for the community here, can't say I enjoy the game as much anymore, truthfully, I don't. People come after you, spend money and then surpass you, too much for those who pay and nearly nothing for those who can't.

5* evolution isn't as bad as you think though. At the very least f2p players can upgrade their 5* creatures to stronger versions. Remember that for paying players they still may need up to 5 of the same creature (1 +4 copies) (2x meld event + using gems) for a succesful meld. I actually had someone in guild use 4 and is stuck at 100% meld. Also the Fafnir may be your single best card right now, but more will come for sure. I've had a long time where Death Knight was my best card... and he is still a solid card but now that I have 2x Phantom Liege... I've already shown f2p players can get to 11-8 without star or buying gems. And there is all the 5* cards that you can get from guild sooner or later... I'm halfway on some of mine, in 2 months or so I'll have a plethora of other options to work with

Same here, Gauntlet feels too "grindy". Once I get all the shards I need I'm not touching Gauntlet for a while.

I basically only do gauntlet for my daily at this point or if I feel like playing a match or two at least until I have stacks of 3* fodder etc I'm not going to try suuper hard on it but it can be quite fun/infuriating depending on what decks you run into
