Most used is Frost Armour 5 from Sentry Angel. He can be applied for in the first 3 guild maps and farmed in one of the lower special dungeons. For 5 star melds, and rarer melds you can take Frost Armour 7 from Ursa Major. He drops in mazes and 1 can be gained in the start of the game.
The least used but easiest 2 farm is Frost Rager with Frost Armour 3. Keep in mind the difference between Frost Armour 3 or 7 isn't that big. Even frost armour 1 from evolving is a very powerfull skill. Try and use mostly sentry angels (ursa major for 5* melds) since sentry angels are easy 2 get.

I've only ever used FA3 from frost rager. As you said the difference between 1 and 7 is tiny and makes 0 difference in battle. Rather save the 4* cards for transmute or something.

The difference in FA is small, but it can make a difference. So don't completely discount it. Taking 200 damage a turn vs 140 does actually add up to a lot in gritty wars, and if your creature is left with less than 60HP- it still gets a turn. And that could be the turn your Judgment/Warlock heal activates, and can turn the tables. I'm not saying you should remeld your creature if you get FA1, it's practically as good as FA7 in most cases, but you should definitely be looking to use FA5 for melds instead of FA3 once you have a good supply of Sentry Angels. Ursa Major is a rare but not particularly useful creature, but as mentioned you never know what transmutation may require- so I would stick to FA5. If you're not in a good guild of course, FA3 is good enough.

It's the same as relying on immunity 1 as your trump skill to win battles.

Frost armour 5 would be easiest to go with. The difference between Frost Armour 5 and let's say Frost Armour 10 should not be game changing.

Just as immunity 1 has a small chance to proc and save a card so too does the level of frost armor have a small chance to make a difference by saving a card If you're comparing immunity 1 to immunity 9, of course. But let's compare apples to apples here. A small chance is still a chance. Would you rather roll immunity 1 on your Paragon or meteor 1? Sure it's only a 1/10 chance, but those times it does activate can help you. Do you believe luck is not a factor in auto battles? Might as well not upgrade runes from lv 6 to 7 either, I mean it's only 100hp- how much difference can it make?

Nobody is relying on -60 damage to win a fight. But it surely adds up.
But feel free to use frost armor 3 on rare creatures if that pleases you.
