Hey guys,
I got a few Ash Beasts and thought I would try melding one. I have a few frost armour 4 star Human crits so far, but I want to get some good 5 star melds going. Whats a good option for this dude? Unbound maybe? Maybe battleblow? I just find that he gets locked down pretty easy. Stoneskin maybe? Let me know your thoughts and what you tried. Cheers

In tourney, I played - and enjoyed playing - for some time, an I7 ash beast in an immune/healing predator faen deck.
I stopped playing this deck in tourney for obvious reasons, but I still play it in guild maps, with a bloodlust ash beast as main damager.

Immunity - Covers Ash Beast's biggest weakness by providing protection from Instakills and Disposals.
Frost Armor - Protects Ash Beast from massive physical attacks. Bloodlust - Rapidly increasing ATK after every successful attack. Does stack with Sweeping Blow.
Bloodrage - Increases ATK every turn even when no enemies are hit. The HP lost is quickly recovered by his Mass Heal 6.
Battleblow - Chance to drastically increase ATK each round.
Soul Snatch - (Ridge Hunter or Blood Elf) - Increases ATK by 35% of Physical DMG Dealt, extremely fast ATK build with Sweeping Blow. Keep in mind that Soul Snatch does nothing if the creature has 2,000 ATK already.
Stoneskin - Since Unbound already stops Debuffs that hinder Ash Beast from Attacking, Stoneskin offers a 100% way to stop Instakills, Disposals, and Retreats.
Frost Blade 10 - 70% chance to lockdown any creature whom he hits.
Stabthough - Efficient Hero-killer, works well with Graboids and Techno Chiefs.
Holy Light 10 - Although Ash Beast has below average Max HP, his unique skill set makes this an interesting choice. With Unbound already on him, Rip is the only skill that will stop him from healing, and if you put a high level Healer Rune II on him it could increase ATK by up to 40%.

The things that I am most focused on is trials, finishing the normal maps, arena, guild maps. I know frost armour is a good option but I have a few frost armour crits already. I need some massive damage now. Life sap on him? I think it would extend his life nicely. Provided there isn't an instakill of course. Stoneskin is awesome but he would still only last 1 to 2 rounds. Life sap extends that a lot I think. No? Immunity is an awesome option but basic attack would still hurt him overall

I am currently on 12-4 on normal maps. Trials I get to around 75 odd, most I got was lvl 84 on trials. Arena I am around 160 or so. I used to be low 100s but now a bunch of lvl 50 odd wights are destroying me sigh. I don't have a tournie rank.
Current deck is usually; Predator lvl 5, sea wiz, recycle HB, mithril, FA Oracle, Ash Beast evolved recently, Anathema evolved recently for SAC, centaur chief FA. Then it all depends what I am facing and what not. But I don't have a solid deck since I don't have a good hero yet. I am waiting to get my Spirit Arbiter from ore mall, I am 15k ore away.
I think Stoneskin or I7 might be the best option for late game. My 5 star melds are purely late game. As f2p it's not easy haha.

As f2p it's not easy haha. probably you are facing a lot of disposal/instant kill. so Stonesking would be a good choice. regarding keeping him alive, he/she/it is a faen. there are a lot of healer/buffers in faens, look for sinergy. regarding hitting damage, do not waste materials, at 25 more levels up from you, there are a lot of dodge. another rec HB is your next step (and remove the oracle) he/she/it last breath will be used by you in your faen tournament deck until you are in the 2000 ranking.

Imm/stoneskin are slightly wasted on him due to unbound. Don't get me wrong, they are big improvements - but why are yuo so desperate to keep ash on the board? He needs soemthing to make him actually useful in some role, otherwise its an expensive mass healer dealing still pretty mediore damage.
If you want him to hit hard, bloodlust with healers will be strong - especially for GM. Lifesap is good for sustain, as is FA - but it leaves him feeling a little medicore going forward. BB8 + sweeping is always good for damage, but bloodlust would be better if you have plenty of faen support in the deck.
Strongest meld is to replace SW by melding frostblade 10 - until you can meld immunity onto SeaWiz. At heart he is best as a support crit, and a good lockdown skill is his best option. For late game he isn't going to feature - so don't worry about it!
Ash can be strong in a faen sustain deck, but is out performed in most roles by easily obtainable crits. FA/lifesap tank is not too useful and for damage melds he is easily outdone by graboids. FB10 ash + BB8 graboid will improve you current deck somewhat. FA grab/twins will be stronger than centaur going forward. You could use an FA treant elder over the FA oracle - feels a little bit of a dead slot in this deck (may be OK if you had a paragon in the deck). Also, get another recycle in there (HB). FA naga and incinerate Flame brave could work for you while you stuck with predator.
Some 5* melds are fixed firmly in the midgame (imm PL, FA terror, ash beast etc) and are going to be totally useless in the end game no matter what you do. You can and will get loads of ash's to play with anyway, so meld him with something you can use now.
He can be used with bless too for Prot Grimore with the right deck.

PL is cool for damage but gets locked down so easily Which is why an early i9 meld on PL is good, it just falls off quickly as you progress. You can always move that i9 onto something more useful later like Paragon.
lifesap for sustain is good with unbound, but it is destroyed by any dodge (including good equipment). FA is safer with drone, as you will heal off the damage anyway.
Good runes on crits and heroes will help you sustain alot, and you should be running healer hero rune with the multiple healers you are using. Look at guides for the grimore V battles - perhaps prioritise getting the right stuff for these fights (will be useful for throughout the game) as these runes will provide a much bigger boost when levelled than any ash meld (get vitV and protV onto that HB ASAP, at L5 they will give you another 700HP). ProtV is super hard, but IV is atainable with high hero HP and purple protean runes are still very good.
